August Favourites

The Summer months are coming to a close and I am super excited to get my fall makeup sorted but for the time being I am going to enjoy the last of the sunshine and glowy light makeup. For the past while, my favourites haven’t been too exciting as I have been using the same products again and again, sadly again this is the quite the same for this month. However there is a couple of newbies and things I’ve been trying out that I have really liked! Hopefully though for next month, I will have a selection of interesting products!

Starting with skincare, when my Oskia cleanser ran out, I started to try out this travel size Aurelia Miracle Cleanser. This is a cream based cleanser with Chamomile, Eucalptus, Rosemary and Bergamot. It feels incredibly silky and gentle on the skin and makes such a nice second cleanser for the evening. It is quite pricey particularly when the Liz Earle one is very similar however it really feels like a dream to use.

I am always on the lookout for skincare products that can help with my breakouts so I was excited to try out this Super Spot Remover from Origins. I am a huge Origins fan but spot removers never tend to go down well with me. However I have really enjoyed using this one. It isn’t a miracle worker but it helps repair skin by healing blemishes. I use a drop at night over any blemishes and by morning it dries up the area which makes it fade much faster! The tube is very small but it will last a long time!

On to makeup picks, a product I’ve had in my stash for a while is the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Spotlight in Opal. This is essentially a liquid highlighter and this mini comes with a little doe foot applicator easy to swipe on for a gorgeous glow. Opal is a gorgeous pearl-y golden shade which looks natural and soft on the cheeks. Becca really are queens at highlighter!

The last two favourites are newer in my collection. Firstly the Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise in Bette which I mentioned in this post here. I love a good cream eyeshadow and this ticks all the boxes. It is beautifully creamy, pigmented and the colour is stunning! Lastly, is the Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil again which I mentioned here. This is such an easy and simple brow pencil which looks super natural but builds up really well on my brows. It is also super convenient when I am rushing to get out the door!

Life Lately #8

Can we talk about the fact that September is happening!? Where has time gone!? However this time of year is definitely my favourite as I just love Fall and the build up to Christmas so I am super excited to get started on all the Autumn-y blog posts and get my berry lip game sorted! Anyway future aside, we are here to discuss the past month of August! In my last Life Lately post, I spoke a little about my job situation at the minute. Basically I started a new job last month which I just didn’t like and then was offered another which I finally started this month! For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been training for the job and I am really enjoying it so far so I am definitely looking forward to properly getting into it!

This month also marked my birthday! I was working on the day so didn’t do anything but I did do some beauty haulin’ which was rather exciting so do keep your eyes peeled on the blog! It includes a little damage I did when I finally made a Sephora order, eeek! I also picked up a few new skincare bits that I am excited to get some use out of!

After my birthday, I made a little cinema trip to see Nerve, a thriller about a dare game that features Emma Roberts and Dave Franco. I had been desperate to see the film for ages since I initially seen the trailer and it definitely didn’t disappoint! It was different to anything I’d seen before and I can’t wait already to see it again! Other than that I am still hooked on Pretty Little Liars and I also really want to watch Narcos, anyone watched it?

August Playlist

Another month of Summer gone by, another month of cheery summery music. Like last months playlist, I’ve mainly been listening to a mix of stuff, most of which has been repeated far too many times on the radio and I can’t get out of my head. Charlie Puth, Drake and Shawn Mendes in particular have been stuck in my head for their catchy feel-good songs that I just can’t stop hearing. I am also loving the song Tilted by Christine and the Queens which gives off this Annie Lennox vibe to me that I really like. Of course I am also obsessed with the new Twin Atlantic song which is definitely going to be a favourite of mine!

August Goals

My birthday month is finally here, yippee! As well as the fact we are now in the eighth month of the year, it means that Christmas isn’t long off the cards either! Sorry for dropping the c-word! I do love this time of year as Summer begins to close down and there is much excitement ahead! Anyway looking just to the month ahead, here is my goals for the month!

• Get outdoors more
• Cut down on unnecessary snacking
• Treat my self on my birthday
• Enjoy my birthday
• Give my wardrobe a strict detox (again!)

July Favourites

If you read my latest Life Lately post then you may know that this month wasn’t my strongest beauty-wise. I kept to a low-buy all month and the majority of it was spent makeup-free. Since I haven’t bought many new things either, when I have been wearing makeup it has been sticking mostly to my known favourites from my stash. So, in terms of favourites this month it has been pretty short and sweet and more skincare focused.

Starting with the one makeup item however that I have been obsessed with for the past couple of weeks. Not a newbie by any means and one I have mentioned plenty of times before, in fact it may have been in a previous favourites? It is the cult favourite Mac Velvet Teddy lipstick. Now it really took me a while to truly love this shade. I have a lot of Mac lipsticks in a similar colour family with others that I prefer more like Mehr and Twig for being that bit more pink and flattering. Velvet Teddy lies to the browner toned side of things with a hint of peachy tones. I always liked it but it never blew me away until recently. I strangely was desperate to wear it one day and I have been wearing it constantly recently. It is just a perfect nude that isn’t too brown and basically the whole my lips but better. So worth the hype!

Moving on to skincare bits, I have been trying a few new things recently skincare-wise and have been sticking to a much better routine now especially since I have had so many makeup-free days. First up is another cult product, this time the Pixi Glow Tonic. I had been desperate to try this exfoliating toner for so long cause if Caroline Hirons approves then it has to be a winner, right!? This is the first product I’ve tried from the Pixi brand but I am already thinking of many more products I want to try out. I have always been pretty poor and irregular in using toners/exfoliators in my routine but since I picked this up I have been trying to make sure I am getting my regular use. At first use it is quite difficult to understand what the product is doing but after a good few weeks I can definitely see a difference in my skin. Scarring from blemishes have been massively reduced and that is always my biggest concern as well my skin appearing fresher and smoother. I think I’ve found myself a great staple now in my routine!

If you recall my Origins beauty box post, then it will be no surprise that I am mentioning a product included in that post. I finally got to try the Origins VitaZing SPF 15 Moisturiser and I have been loving it from my first use. I do find moisturisers can be quite tricky to get right, many are pretty basic but not this. The consistency isn’t too thin yet it isn’t too thick and heavy, it feels moisturising and firming on the skin without feeling tacky. It also has a very sheer tint and delivers the most beautiful radiance which just makes this moisturiser so worthy of the pennies. It adds a lovely glow to the skin that looks flawless and healthy. Oh and did I mention it also has SPF included, winner! Again, this could be another long time skincare favourite of mine!

Life Lately #7

Summer just seems to be flying by and it’s crazy to think that August (my birthday month, eek!) is about to begin! This month has been a little crazy. Since my last job came to an end and uni has stopped for the Summer, I have been looking desperately for another job. Luckily, I got a few job interviews which has taken up some of my time to prepare for, hence the job interview makeup post!  I succeeded in my first interview and took the job. I started it last week however it hasn’t been great. My first day wasn’t great and I just felt more and more demotivated. It really isn’t the job for me! However very luckily, I was super relived when I came home from my first shift to learn that I had been offered another job which was one I really wanted! So next month I am super happy to be starting another new job that will hopefully turn out much better than my current one!

Job searching aside, the weather has been pretty poor except from the odd few days of heat in the UK. That didn’t stop me however taking a nice little weekend away with one of my friends before I started my job. I hadn’t been doing much during the month or had much planned so it was nice to just spend a few days chilling and having pretty much no internet! Other than that, nothing else really happened during July, much to the busyness of dealing with my interviews and how bad the weather was.

In terms of blogging, I have to admit there has been times this month were I just haven’t been feeling it. Before I went away and when I started work, I did feel pretty pressured to ensure I had a good blog post arranged for those times and it has been a bit of a struggle even finding time to take photographs never mind thinking of a good post idea. I did mix it up a bit though with some more lifestyle-y posts particularly my foodie post talking about ingredients to have in your cupboard which was so different for me to write about. I also haven’t worn much makeup for the most of the month so I did feel a little uninspired beauty wise! Hopefully though next month, I will have a few new beauty things to share (like my recent little Charlotte Tilbury splurge!) and of course being my birthday soon, I gotta treat my self, right!

July Playlist

Another month, another playlist. In the Summer months excluding my holiday time, I don’t tend to listen too heavily to music unlike when I am constantly listening to new things when travelling during uni time. So for the mean time, it has been listening to long time favourites and just getting addicted to catchy dance tunes on the radio. I was super excited to see that Mumford and Sons had released a new mini album entitled ‘Johannesburg’ which features a collaboration with a few South African musicians. There really is nothing better than the folky sounds of M&S which I adore teamed with traditional African sounds. Such a great collection of unique tunes!

In my last playlist, I mentioned my love for Twin Atlantic, this month I am still as ever hooked on their albums, this month however their second album has been playing constantly! From the rockier sounds of TA to the complete opposite side of the spectrum, I’ve also had songs from Drake and Rihanna stuck in my head along with another few chart songs that aren’t really my usual style but are so damn addictive!

July Goals

Summer has officially began, it is crazy to think we are now in July! Christmas is only a blink away people, sorry! Since my holidaying in the sun is over and I have so much time left before going back to uni, I am hoping that the next couple of months will be very productive! So here is my goals for the month ahead were I hope to be kicked back into gear (and shape!)…

• Maintain a regular fitness routine
• Keep spending to a minimum (unless I get rich)
• Try out new healthy main meal recipes
• Write more lifestyle-y blog posts
• Interact more!

June Favourites

I would say Summer has finally arrived although looking outside doesn’t really confirm that. Weather woes aside, I have got a mix of beauty favourites that I have been loving all month long. Of course as I was soaking up the sun this month, I have a few favourites that helped prep me for my time in the sun and embrace the summer vibes.

Starting with the makeup bits I have been loving, as you can see that beauty of a palette in the corner; the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit (Now Back in Stock!!), it was actually the addition of the Ambient Lighting Bronzer that I have been obsessed with! With the arrival of Summer, I have been ditching my matte bronzers in exchange for something more shimmery. This one fits the bill perfectly as it definitely packs the glow factor. I never got the most wear out of this shade as it has always been that bit too dark on my skin but right now with a light hand, it adds a gorgeous luminosity and basically makes me feel like a bronze goddess, what is not to love!?

I can never have a monthly favourites without a lip product and this month I have two loves. The first is Mac Flat Out Fabulous, a gorgeous bold fuchsia plum shade that I mentioned in my Summer lip picks post. It is such a unique shade and is super flattering on as well as having a really comfortable yet long wearing finish. The other is The Balm Meet Matte Hughes Liquid Lipstick in Committed. I basically want all the liquid lipsticks at the moment and this one had been on my list for a while. The shade is just everything I had been looking for, a deep pink nude that isn’t too dark. The formula feels super comfortable and is long wearing as well as leaving a nice stain on the lips once it wears down. I definitely need to try more of these!

Other bits and pieces that I have been loving will come as no surprise as I have mentioned all of these products this month on the blog. The first is a nail polish from Essie in the shade Sunshine State of Mind. This shade is a gorgeous vivid orange-y coral shade that is part of the Essie Summer 2016 collection. I wore this for the majority of the month when I was away and it looks pretty damn awesome with a tan!

Lastly, come summer I am all about those fresh and fruity scents and my last two favourites are the perfect examples! The first is the ck2 fragrance which I mentioned more in detail in this post. I love this fresh and woody scent, it will definitely be a long time everyday favourite of mine. Of course as well I have been obsessed with the Body Shop Pinita Colada range. I dedicated a whole post to it here, I have been loving everything that I’ve tried and the coconut-pineapple scent is so dreamy!
