September Favourites

It’s hard to believe that the countdown to Christmas is now on. Three months people, three months. Summer is over and Autumn is beginning (finally!). Festive season excitement behind, September is now over and it’s time to round up my beauty favourites from the month. This month, I didn’t try many new things or change up my makeup that frequently but there is still a few items that I am desperate to have a little rave about!

A product that I’ve had in my stash for so long and for so long has received the silent treatment is the beauty that is the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette. I was so excited when this palette was released that I refreshed the Debenhams website basically every minute for hours waiting for it to be in stock. Obviously as you can see I was in luck but I did buy it at an inconvenient time as Summer came and I hardly wore makeup so this palette didn’t get much use! However I have pulled this out again to start getting use out of it especially since I need to review this beauty asap which I will do! The palette has some gorgeous golden-y peachy tones that make for a great everyday look and the shadow quality is impressive!

The next product I’ve been loving is an old favourite that many of you will be sick of hearing me rave about! I finally repurchased the Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer (full review here) which I just adore. I had been dabbling in a few different concealers recently and none of them offered the coverage and longevity that the Nars one delivers. I basically couldn’t wait any longer and had to get this wonder product back in my life. You either love it or you hate it but for me as a concealer for blemishes, it works incredibly well. Full coverage that lasts all day without being cakey! Perfect!

A couple of new products in my stash. Firstly, the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lovesick which is finally now stocked in the UK *happy dance*. I had been desperate to try these lipsticks for ages and I am so glad to have tried them now as they are so worth the hype! I love a good liquid lipstick and this is definitely one of my favourites. The shade Lovesick is a great cool toned pink shade that makes a great everyday shade. The formula is also comfortable and basically so far so good!

Lastly, a makeup brush that just blew me away from the first use, the Sephora #55 brush which I mentioned in this haul. I had heard so many great things about this brush so couldn’t wait to finally get my hands on it. I am also glad to say it lives well and truly up to all the hype. It is the perfect size for foundation and is beautifully soft. It is also not overly fluffy but also not too dense either which makes it just perfect! The handle on the brush is also a lot longer than most other makeup brushes I own which I really like. Most importantly though, it blends in foundation beautifully and with a natural finish!

Life Lately #9

It feels so nice to be typing up a blog post right now as September has been a hectic month and it has really affected my blogging this month! I’ve been super busy with work and of course university starting back so the time for my blog has been limited but on top of that I’ve also felt so uninspired right now! I am definitely feeling like I am in a bit of a creative funk at the minute with ideas and when I have such limited time to plan and prepare posts it makes it worse as the last thing I want to do is publish poor quality rushed content! So, to help ease my way back into blogging and get motivated again, I’ve decided to change up my blogging schedule. I usually post three times a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday but in order to fit around my other commitments I’ve decided to cut my schedule to twice a week! Starting next week, my blog will have fresh content on a Tuesday and Friday at 10am GMT. It’s annoying to have to reduce the number of posts but hopefully it will make my life a lot easier!

Anyway, blogging rambling over. As I mentioned I started back at university this month. How exciting! Summer definitely felt like it went past in a flash and I feel so overwhelmed by the fact that I need to get back into living the student life. Fun. On a plus note, it is now three months til Christmas, if that is not exciting then I really don’t know what is! Whilst I am not particularly thrilled about the amount of workload that is about to hit me soon, I am excited to get productive and soon before I know it will be time for hot chocolate, winter coats and snow. Ahh, heaven!

Before things get all winter-y though, Autumn has arrived first! In the spirit, I did a bit of clothes hauling to fill up some of the gaps in my wardrobe. I picked up the majority of things from my Autumn Style wishlist and I just need a couple more things before I am pretty happy! Hopefully next month I can also pick up my dream Acne Boots that I’ve been saving up for! Considering I’ve cleared out a lot from my wardrobe recently, I do think I deserve a little treat, right!?

In terms of beauty, I was also super hyped by the arrival of Kat Von D makeup in the UK. Finally! There will be a little reveal soon on the blog so keep your eyes pealed! I did also hear of a little rumour about Sephora coming to the UK but I don’t want to get my hopes up too much but that really would be the icing on the cake!

September Playlist

September was an exciting month for music. I went and seen Mcfly live so of course I’ve been having a bit of a throwback to my childhood by constantly listening to some of their older stuff which I am still obsessed with. A lot of which is over 10 years old and I am still not sick of! September also seen the release of a couple of new exciting albums! Since I prioritised Mcfly this month, i haven’t had a lot of album listening but I am slowly but surely getting into the new Twin Atlantic album which I will probably feature next month! As well as that, I have also been hooked on some other tracks that I keep hearing repeated on the radio on a daily basis. The Chainsmokers song Closer is incredibly catchy and I am obsessed with the song Millionaire which is pretty good to dance to!

September Goals

Pumpkin Spiced Lattes are officially in Starbucks so surely it is pretty much Autumn! September is one of my favourite months, the weather is still mild (in some cases better than the main Summer months!), the Autumn inspired clothing and items weaves its way into stores and it always just feels like a bit of a fresh start like a new year has begun with the start of the next uni semester. Speaking of a fresh start, I am definitely all up for getting organised and in a routine this month in terms of work and uni but also for my own well-being and my goals this month definitely reflect that! So here’s to September being a productive one!

• Stick to a low sugar intake diet
• Find good sugar free recipes and snacking alternatives
• Make my first designer purchase (maybe!)
• Buy a bike
• Get outdoors regularly
• Get organised for my third year at university

Monthly Roundup: September

A new season has finally begun. It’s ever so strange to think that Autumn is here. I am still trying to recall when Summer actually took place this year. Anyway enough of my seasonal ramblings it’s time to look back at my month of September. This month started as a slow burner and picked up halfway through with my hectic schedule coming back to haunt me. This month marked my return to uni to start my second year which is crazy and I have to say I am feeling so unprepared for the mountain of work that will be coming my way. This will be the first time I am at uni and have a job at the same time so this year will definitely be jam packed to say the least and I do apologize in advance if my blog does suffer as my spare time is pretty limited just now.

Whilst the thoughts of going back to uni was pretty depressing, I did get excited about the shopping that was about to commence. Let’s just say I think I will need to enforce myself on a spending ban for at least the next month. I picked up some pretty good deals on some things I had been lusting over for so long and I now have my hands on a couple of new palettes in my collection (that I will obviously share with you all soon!). Yup that is the UD Naked Smoky palette, I wasn’t going to let my Naked collection miss out on this one, was I!? I also picked up an exciting new purchase for my wardrobe in the terms of a new leather jacket. A leather jacket is a wardrobe staple and I wasn’t happy with my old one so I rightly so invested in a new one from Zara which I am obsessed with. Bring on the Autumn wardrobe! Can I come off that ‘Spending ban’ now…

I also finally discovered Cotton Candy grapes. Oh yes, you heard that right! I had been looking for these interestingly flavoured grapes for the past year and after a little trip to the supermarket my eyes clapped onto these with the feeling of success. They are as good as they sound and I am definitely needing to stock up now! You can obviously tell how exciting my life is that I have to mention the excitement of buying grapes. Yes. So in summary this month pretty much consisted of eating (grapes), shopping, working, going to uni and also recovering from a couple of sick days in between. Now let the excitement of Autumn and berry lips begin…

September Playlist

I have lost count of the amount of times I have went to call this post ‘August playlist’. Time is clearly flying past faster than I know it! I’ll leave my monthly chat until Monday’s post as it’s time once again to reflect on what I’ve had blaring out the speakers this month. Like last month it’s a bit of a mix and goes from the extreme of one genre to another. I’ve been listening to a couple of newer tunes from some of my old favourites Fall Out Boy and Panic at the Disco. Both bands will never get old and I still continue to enjoy their newer releases. I also caught up with a couple of tracks from Imagine Dragon’s newest album which I am liking but I still need to give the album a proper listen. Of course what would my playlist be without a couple of those random songs. Time to Say Goodbye has been stuck in my head forever since it features in the Downton Abbey advert so I have had that version on numerous times over the month as well as a Cher Lloyd song that I also really like. Cough Syrup by Young the Giant is such a good song and one I’ve had on repeat for too long as well as Bridge Burn by Little Comets. Two really great songs worth a listen. Little Mix and One Republic also make up the last of my rather mixed up monthly playlist.

September Favourites

I can’t be the only one who is struggling to believe that its October already! Where does time go!? Anyway here are my favourites from last month.

River Island Dark Red Mini Satchel – I adore this bag! I picked it up from River Island for £20 in this very autumnal red colour and its the perfect size for going to gigs and places where I don’t need a lot of things to carry about. River Island also have a few other colours of this bag as well as the larger versions which are all to die for.

Urban Decay Naked Palette – There is no surprise here! I picked up this incredibly raved about palette a while back on a special offer that I couldn’t refuse and like everyone else I fell in love. The shades are all amazingly pigmented and all wearable. I have the 3rd one as well now and I now only need the second one to complete my collection. A palette you NEED in your collection!

Mac Shy Girl – Believe it or not but this was my first Mac lipstick ever and the best lipstick I can put my name to. It is a beautiful creamy nude pink shade and the perfect nude lipstick which doesn’t wash you out. If you don’t have this in your collection its a must, the perfect day time lipstick that goes with everything and perfect with a bit of clear gloss 🙂

New Look Brown Chelsea Boots – If you read my Chelsea Boots edit then you would have seen these boots in which I mentioned that I already owned and I love them! Chelsea boots are a huge trend this season and I love the style of them. I usually purchase black boots so I thought I would take a change and go for brown this time and I am loving it, its the perfect fall look and is great for everyday wear with jeans and a flannel shirt. Also at £24.99 you can’t go wrong! 🙂

 

 

 

 

Pick of the Month:September 2014

I’m still finding it quite hard to believe that we are nearing the last few months of 2014 and I’m now looking at coats *gasp*. Anyway my excitement over coats has made this beauty the Pick of the month for September. This Pale Pink Boyfriend Coat is from New Look and priced at a okay price of £54.99 (don’t forget student discount!). Pastels are here to stay for Fall *applause* particularly pale pinks and blues which are everywhere and I want need a pastel cosy coat for the cold weather ahead and this coat is perfect for me 🙂 The coat has a boyfriend fit so it is oversized which is a bonus for being all cosy and its also available in pastel blue as well. Please note that this coat is only in the Petite section, sorry to all the lanky tall people out there but there is many other alternatives from New Look and other places such as ASOS.
