Inexpensive Decor Ideas For Your Home

inexpensive-home-decor-ideas-interiors-cheap-lifestyle-blog-blogger-prints-art-flowers-books-candles-plantsI’ve always took a pride in my home decor. Since I am still stuck at home with my parents I am restricted to my own little square bedroom but that hasn’t stopped me browsing the home interior aisles. Since a young age, I’ve always been the organised type and one who takes pride in appearance not just personally but also in my environment. I love having stacks of cushions, wall prints and pretty flowers to dress the place up a little and I thought I would share some of my favourite ways to decorate your home, also at a low cost!

PRINTS

If you are suffering from bare walls then the best way to dress up the place a little is to add prints. I absolutely adore adding framed prints around my room to make a things a little more pretty but they can also add a personal touch too. Pretty much all of my prints come from Etsy which is probably the best place to get cheap prints. They have so many styles and the best thing is that you can easily download them straight away to print. You can also pick up really inexpensive frames too from places like Wilko or Ikea, although Ikea are probably the best as their frames seem to be much better quality! I like to either hang my frames, stack them on top of books or place them on shelves. The options are endless!

As well, prints are a really great option if you want to create a sort of mood board or gallery on your wall! Little Postcards are also a great option and really balance out the sizing proportions! You can also pick them up really cheap from the likes of Paperchase.

BOOKS/MAGAZINES

I’ve always loved a good book or magazine but what is even better about them is that they make a great decor option. I dream of the time that I can own a whole bookcase stacked with pretty books but for the meantime I keep a couple of stacks of books on my shelves. I then put some ornaments on top to give a more dimensional look to an otherwise flat shelf. I personally love beauty/style books as they can be great to flick through for inspiration and pretty pictures but usually they also have a beautiful exterior making them home decor worthy.

Magazines are also really handy and of course spending so much a month on a magazine can be put to good use. I like to stack a lot of my magazines on my drawers and also on my bedside table for a stylish and chic look. Just like books, they look even more the part with a pretty candle or ornament on top!

PLANTS

No home is a home without a bit of natural (or fake!) greenery! Cactus is particularly my favourite kind of plant as they are easy to care for and look pretty cute! You can find cactus or a different range of plants in a garden centre, I picked up most of mine in Homebase and also Ikea have a great range too!

I also love a beautiful bunch of flowers! Peonies are without a doubt my favourite, there is just something about the blush pink against my white furniture! Obviously though flowers have a short shelf life and it can be costly to upkeep. All of the flowers in my room are actually fake, I have a lovely bunch of peonies from Ebay which were super cheap yet still look so pretty! Ikea are also really great for cheap flowers although some of the ones I have are a little too fake, lol!

CANDLES

I am sure many of you will know I am a huge fan of candles. They make a pretty decor piece but also feel so warming in a room. I actually did a whole post dedicated to candles and how to care for them, here if you want to check it out! Candles can be picked up from pretty much anywhere and there is so many to suit everyone’s budget. Being a candle lover, I do like to invest my money in some candles with my favourites being from Diptyque! Another great thing about candles is that once they are done the jar makes a lovely decor piece too! Obviously Diptyque have a beautiful jar design so really look the part when cleaned out and used as plant pots, vases or makeup brush/pen holders! Again I covered that all in my candle post!

How do you like to decor your home?

Spring Clothing Wishlist

Spring Clothing Wishlist
You may have seen my beauty Spring wishlist but now its time to look at my recent clothing wishlist. Looking at my picks, they aren’t the most obvious spring inspired pieces, sorry I am pretty boring and like wearing dark clothing! Anyway on to my picks…
Topshop Moto Black Short Dungarees – Dungarees are not something I ever thought I would be sporting again since I was about 5 but I seem to have took quite the loving for them in the last year. I kept getting put off them but they seem so effortless and a style that I don’t think will leave us any time soon. Being black denim they can go with pretty much anything, so hopefully I can add these to my wardrobe to release my inner Alexa Chung.
Weekday Chidi Tee – There is no denying I love a bit of stripes. They look so stylish yet they are so effortless to be paired with a pair of skinnies and flats, I’m so in love ❤ I’ve been looking for a good quality striped top for a while and after coming across the brand Weekday I’ve basically fell in love with them too, they have such great basics! I know without a doubt this top won’t be the only thing I buy from Weekday!
Topshop Scarf Border Print Top – Fingers crossed Topshop get more stock in of this beautiful printed top. I have another top from Topshop which is incredibly similar to this, just a different print. Its such a pretty colourful print that can worn dressed down during the day or for going out.
Birkenstock Arizona Leather Sandals – These sandals have got me in a bit of umms and ahhs. I keep seeing them around on the likes of Pinterest and other blogs and they look ever so cool, the basic black sandal going with pretty much anything as well as being comfy. The only thing is I’m still torn about them, are they one of those ‘ugly’ sandals? I’m not so sure, what do you think?
Topshop Moto Black Rinse Jamie Jeans – A pretty boring but essential piece. A pair of black skinny jeans. I am lacking a good pair of black jeans at the minute and I am looking for a good quality option that will last me a long while. As usual I have turned to Topshop although I am still looking around on this option. I usually get the Topshop Joni jeans but I think the quality is slightly lacking as mine always seem to stretch after washing and lose their structure so I am considering the Jamie jeans which I have tried before.
Cheap Monday Halo Tee – I am really looking into investing in some good quality basics especially t-shirts and this one from Cheap Monday fits the bill perfectly. It has a boxy structure and a pocket which makes this on trend and stylish. It would help achieve that effortless look teamed with some skinny jeans and many some Birkenstocks, eh?
So what is on your clothing wishlist for Spring?

Burberry Prorsum RTW Fall 2015

Burberry Prorsum 4When it comes to London Fashion Week there is always one show I cannot wait to see, in fact its a show I am probably the most excited about for the whole of fashion week over all four cities. Nothing quite comes close to the show that Christopher Bailey puts on for Burberry Prorsum. Oh the things that I would do to get the chance to attend a show, a girl can dream, right!? As usual there was no disappointment in this collection and only added countless pieces to my “if I get rich wishlist”.

The collection was appropriately named “Patchwork, Pattern and Prints” and it was just that. There was quite a 60s boho chic vibe from the show with fringed ponchos and floral designs that had the hippy era written all over them. An Indian theme was also echoed throughout the collection through fringed details sported on skirts to boots and the use of suede was also apparent. Of course being a Burberry show there was indeed the classic trench coats which were seen featuring a range of floral designs.

Makeup wise, it was kept to a minimum. Models donned a fresh faced look with a soft smokey eye and nude lips. Overall, as usual another incredible show from Christopher Bailey and my favourite Fall 2015 collection from fashion week (so far). Check out the rest of the collection here.

Hervé Léger by Max Azria RTW Fall 2015

HL 1 HL 2 HL 3 HL 4

Before I head straight into the high fashion craziness that is fashion week I just wanted to say a big thank you to all my lovely wordpress followers as I have just reached 300 followers, so thank you so much 🙂

Anyway, February only means one thing. Nope not Valentines Day or Pancake Day, nope it is of course the start of fashion week! Fashion Week for Fall 2015 finally kicked off this week in New York and I will be sharing some of the highlights here. Now if I uttered the words ‘Herve Leger’ there is probably one thing you and most people are all thinking: the bandage dress. Herve Leger is famed for their figure-hugging bodycon dresses which were quite the thing a few years back with celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and pretty much everyone rocking one. Times have slightly moved on though as that trend slowly passed.

The bandage dress however still holds a place in the Herve Leger collection but with a slight twist and a much better one. Many dresses stuck to the similar bandage dress design with embellished features. The collection was quite varied from the biker embellished look to the full on prints. There were bold kaleidoscopic style prints and much more toned down monochrome and darker heavy embellished style dresses. Instead of the usual tight-fitting silhouette, this collection has a varied style with a-lines and peplum hemlines. The typical bandage dress may have had its day but full on prints and change are here to stay! Check out the rest of the collection here.

Resort 2014:Mary Katrantzou

Prints have been a huge trend recently and one person responsible for its growth in popularity is London-based designer Mary Katrantzou who specializes in print. This week Katrantzou launched her first ever Resort collection and I must admit from what I have seen it is my favorite resort collection for 2014. The prints show inspiration from architecture aswell as floral prints and oriental inspiration being used. Similarly to her other collections these pieces will definitely make anyone stand out from the crowd with her beautiful colorful prints and unique structures. Below are some pieces from the collection. What do you think of this collection? The rest of the collection can be viewed at Style.com.

Milan Fashion Week:Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2013 RTW

Last week Dolce & Gabbana took to Milan Fashion Week with their Fall 2013 collection. The collection had an interesting Religious theme to it with notable religious figures regularly appearing throughout the show aswell as the cross symbol making an appearance. A mosaic design also played a part in the collection that was featured on many of the designs which gives another suggestion towards the religious theme symboling a church decor possibly. There was also very ladylike dresses with many lace numbers which are typical to D&G.  Here below are some shots from the runway show. Are you a fan of this collection ? London Fashion Week:Burberry Prorsum Fall 2013 RTW

So London Fashion Week has finally came to a close and the most anticipated show of course was Burberry Prorsum that took to the runway yesterday with many celebrities such as Rita Ora, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Kate Beckinsale taking to the front row. As usual Christopher Bailey did a spectacular job with this collection and the whole show overall was up to a high level as it always is. The collection showed traditional and classic designs inspired by Burberry’s history including the classic Trench coat which is always making an appearance but were given a modern update with leather, rubber and even a bit of animal print. The collection also featured other animal inspired prints  and heart prints to bring in a little sassy to the show. Overall a fantastic show and If I could then i would be buying everything haha!  Here below are some shots from the runway show. Are you a fan of this collection ? London Fashion Week:Mary Katrantzou Fall 2013 RTW

After gaining support from the British Fashion Council Mary Katrantzou has had a surge in success with her collection. Known for her prints, this collection is no exception showing what Katrantzou does best. This collection appears dark and the main prints in the collection show dark nights with streetlights and benches on a misty night. One thing that is very noticeable in this collection that contrasts with her previous collections is the lack in bold colour that we are used to seeing in her designs. This collection mainly has a monochrome palette running through it with colour taking a back-seat this time round and having the structure and shape of the designs as the main focus in order to take the collection forward. In my opinion this collection is not my favorite as one thing I have always liked about her was her use in bold coloured prints however obviously this is missing this time round which I believe brings the collection down however saying that I still think Mary Katrantzou is a fantastic designer and the attention she pays to prints is at a very high level. Here below are some shots from the runway show.
