Spring Eyes: Pretty Pinks and Purples

Spring EyesOver the last couple of months I have been going for a similar eyeshadow look using pretty pastel shades of pinks and lilacs. As Spring has sprung, I have given my makeup look a little freshen up ditching bolder eye looks in favour of something a little more pretty. After seeing a couple of notable bloggers and YouTubers use certain products I picked up a couple of newbies which helped nail this fresh spring eye look down. In terms of my overall Spring makeup, you can check out my full Spring edit here. Now back to the eyes, here is some of the products I have been switching between recently.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette – Probably the palette that started it all. After Lily Pebbles did a tutorial using this beauty, it urged me to start using it again. Soon after, I have became hooked once again. The light rose and plum hues have Spring written all over them. You can create so many beautiful looks too in the one palette with my preference of going for a little shimmer on the lids and a light matte shade in the crease for a super effortless but ever so pretty look. Of course this palette is superb quality and in case you missed out, you can check my full review here.

L’Oreal Colour Riche 601 Cameleon Eyeshadow – Another blogger enabled purchase, this time from Essie Button who used this very pretty shade in one of her videos. This is actually my first eyeshadow from L’Oreal even though they do seem pretty popular and look very nice. This shade is just incredible. It’s one of those colours that changes in the light and looks different on others. It is a lilac-y sheen with a slight tone of blue through it. Its a very pretty shade perfect for spring and it is super unique. It looks fresh for Spring and matched with a bright lip, its a dream.

By Terry Ombre Blackstar Misty Rock – Of course I was going to mention this gem of a product. Its quite the hype we know and for good reason. I won’t go on too much as I did review it last week here. It really is a beautiful shade for Spring. Again like the L’Oreal eyeshadow it has that effect to it in which it looks different in the light. Its a plummy-mauve shade with a silver shimmer running through it. It looks amazing simply on its own, quick and easy and looks pretty damn good!

Maybelline Colour Tattoo Pink Gold – One of my favourite eyeshadow formulas, the inexpensive but amazing Maybelline Colour Tattoos. Again I won’t bat on about them too much as I did talk about them before here. The light pink shimmery shade is again perfect for spring. These are super pigmented and glide on like a dream. Again this shadow looks fab by itself as a pretty wash of colour over the lids.

Are you a fan of Pink and Purple eyeshadows? What are you wearing on your eyes this Spring?

The Spring Edit: Nails

Spring Nails

Spring Nails EditIt feels like Spring has finally sprung. I don’t know about anyone else but with the colder and horrible weather during Winter, it makes me feel like we will never get any good weather. Gladly we are past that stage now and its time to overload on pastels and lighter colours. I have selected 9 nail polishes from my stash that I will be wearing over the warmer season, some of which are the obvious light pastel shades for spring or a little different. Please be aware some of the swatches above appear a little darker than they actually are.

Top Row

Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Road Rage – I’ve spoken more about this one before here with better swatches. This is part of the new quick dry range from Barry M which comes in a range of pretty spring pastel shades. This one is a lovely duck egg shaded blue-y green.

Chanel Tenderly – Again you may have heard me mention this before here. This is part of Chanel’s Spring 2015 range and it is quite different for Spring with a mauve-y plum toned shade but I am loving it!

Essie Ballet Slippers – This is a shade I am currently rocking on my nails and its different to anything I have ever owned. It really is as nude as nude can be. If you are wanting a moment of having natural looking nails this pale sheer pink gives your nails a nice little boost of prettiness.

Middle Row

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Rose Hip – This is a beautiful pastel pink shade perfect for Spring and the Barry M gelly formulas are one of the best around.

Essie Under Where? – This is a beautiful lilac-y lavender shade with a hint of pink from one of the resort collections in the main Essie line.

Essie Master Plan – This is a new addition to my stash and its a beautiful light grey shade that will go with anything. Everyone needs a good grey in their collection and its such a sophisticated shade that doesn’t need to be dull.

Bottom Row

Essie Maximillian Strasse Her – Weirdest name ever. Despite that it is a favourite of mine at the moment. Its quite hard to pin point the colour, its a blue-y, green-y toned grey-ish kinda colour. Its a pretty unique shade and one that is a great addition to any collection.

Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Full Throttle – Another one from the quick dry range that I reviewed before here. This is a colour that usually wouldn’t appeal to me but its such a pretty shade on the nails. It’s a very soft apricot colour perfect for the warmer months.

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine HuckleBerry – Another one from the Barry M gelly range and yet again it’s a lovely pastel shade. This is a beautiful light baby blue that is pretty versatile and could be worn from Spring to Winter.

What nail shades will you be wearing this Spring?

New Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Polish Review

Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Polish

Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Polish Road Rage

Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Polish Full ThrottleWhen it comes to nail polish there is one brand I turn to who I know will always offer the best colour selection at an incredibly affordable cost. It is of course Barry M. Whenever Barry M launch a new range of polishes to their collection I have to admit I get that bit excited at seeing the new shades they have on offer. After hearing of their latest launch, it is safe to say I got pretty excited.

This time it wasn’t particularly just the shades, there was a winning formula. Introducing the Barry M Speedy Quick Dry range. I am sure you can tell from the name what these polishes are set out to do. As the most impatient person when it comes to nail polish drying these definitely are the best thing Barry M could offer on the table. There is also a broad shade range adored by a range of pretty pastels perfect for Spring.

I popped into Boots not too long ago to pick up some and unfortunately they only had two shades left which came in the form of Road Rage and Full Throttle. Road Rage is a pretty duck egg shaded blue with slight green undertones, a polish that is pretty unique to my collection. A notable feature of the new polishes is the updated brush which is now much thicker meaning it is now much easier to apply polish over the nail. The other shade I picked up is Full Throttle, an apricot like soft orange shade which if I’m honest wasn’t a stand out colour in the collection, I was stuck with it though. However after applying it I have fell in love with this shade, Its such a different but pretty soft tone that will look perfect in spring alongside some fresh white clothing.

The formula is definitely a winner. After applying Full Throttle at the last minute before heading out into town and rushing around non-stop to get ready it definitely lives up to the speedy dry claim. The lasting power of these polishes is also pretty decent. Barry M polishes usually suffer a weakness in the lasting power but these have lasted pretty well on my nails lasting nearly a week with hardly any chipping.

Probably my favourite range from Barry M without a doubt. If you are impatient like me when it comes to nail polish then these deserve a try. Now what shade should I get next?

Are you a fan of Barry M nail polishes?

Rebecca Taylor: Spring 2015 RTW

So New York Fashion Week has officially kicked off in style. It’s always a bit weird seeing all the spring designs of pastels and light materials when we are all in the midst of shopping for cosy knits and leather boots for fall but hey ho. Rebecca Taylor’s collection took to the runway in New York and screamed spring. The collection was full of typical spring trends of sweet pastel shades of pink, blue and lilac and floral prints. Trends from the 70s seemed to work its way into the collection with wide flares and tailored styles as well as a sort of festival bohemian vibe. The collection was very feminine and sophisticated and works as a great step up from the previous season. Overall if I could use two words to describe this collection I would say pretty and wearable, its just so lovely and cute and I could see these items being wore time and time again during spring. I need my hands on these pieces now! Credit to Vogue.com for images.

August Favourites

IMG_3599Can you believe its September already! I felt like summer only began and now its reaching the end, crazy! Anyway its time to recap on my favourite items of last month. August has been one crazy month but I did celebrate my birthday and go shopping (a lot!).

IMG_3610This month I finally got my hands on the Maybelline color tattoo eyeshadows which are fantastic. I got three shades but my favourite has to be On and On Bronze which is a neat shimmery bronze colour. I recently did a review on the three shadows which you can check out here. The shadow is highly pigmented and long lasting so if you haven’t already then I suggest you pick this up!

IMG_3612Another item I got in my recent haul was the Soap and Glory Supercat eyeliner. I am going to put my hands up and admit I am terrible with eyeliner. I have tried every medium of eyeliner available from pencil to liquid to gel and I have still not mastered the winged eyeliner. However I thought I would try Supercat which is a felt tip style eyeliner which I had not previously tried. This has to be the best eyeliner I have ever used, its so easy to apply and great for people like me who are hopeless with eyeliner. I can now say that I am getting a lot better with the winged eyeliner look 🙂

IMG_3617As I stated earlier I celebrated my birthday in August and I received this cute pastel necklace from a friend. I had been looking for a nice big jeweled necklace for a while now at a good price but I kept holding it off so it was nice to receive this as a gift and even better that pastels are here to stay for fall so I can continue to keep this beauty on!

IMG_3619And last but not least I also got this bag for my birthday. I had been looking for a new bag for a while (well to be honest I am always looking for new bags!) and my mum kindly bought me this cute colour block bag from New Look. Its a great size for all my essentials and comes with a handy adjustable shoulder strap.

Fall 2013 Trends: Oversized Coats

One of the biggest trends this season is oversized coats. Making an appearance in collections for Victoria Beckham, Celine, Carvin and many others this trend is huge this season and perfect for the colder weather. There is nothing more appealing than being wrapped up in a nice big coat during winter time and thats why I love this trend as these coats are the right way to go. Pastels have also been huge for this season and you may find that a lot of oversized coats out there feature the pastel trend to give the oversized menswear silhouette a more girly approach. Below are some oversized coats you can get your hands on from the high street, hover over each image for prices and the store. What do you think of this trend?
