Skincare Empties #2

Skincare Beauty Products Empties Review Cetaphil Oskia Aesop La Roche Posay It always seems that many of my main skincare products run out at the one time, anyone else? Of course that also means I have to buy a load of skincare products at the one time and they aren’t cheap, great! Anyway first world problems aside, I thought I would run through my recent skincare empties and whether a repurchase is on the cards!

THE BODY SHOP VITAMIN E AQUA BOOST SORBET

This moisturiser has been subject to many repurchases in the last while. Being a ‘sorbet’, it has a very lightweight texture with a beautiful cooling effect. It is very hydrating so makes a nice moisturiser particularly in the Summer months. I have been using this as my night moisturiser and whilst I do love it, I do feel like I need something a bit more rich and moisturising in the evening instead.

Would I repurchase? As I said I do need something else more suited so I will not be making a repurchase but I do really like this and could return to it.

OSKIA RENAISSANCE CLEANSING GEL

The cult cleanser that everyone raves about. I spoke about this one before in a favourites post so obviously you can guess it is a winner for me. It is a pricey cleanser but it definitely offers a luxurious feel. It has a unique gel texture that melts into an oil on the skin which works incredibly well as a second cleanser or even as makeup remover. It might be pricey but it did last me at least six months which makes the cost per use really affordable!

Would I repurchase? I do want to try other cleansers out but I do love this and could definitely repurchase!

AESOP HAND BALM

I love a good hand cream. The Aesop one is definitely a favourite of mine as it is super hydrating and it has a beautiful citrus scent. It is pricey for a hand cream but again it lasted me so long! The metal tube packaging is also pretty damn beautiful!

Would I repurchase? Yup, definitely!

CETAPHIL CLEANSER

I picked up this super affordable cleanser to try out after reading about it loads. I actually picked this up to use as a body cleanser rather than a face cleanser as I have been having bad breakouts across my back and neck area. I used an Origins cleanser prior which I really liked as it did seem to clear up my skin pretty well. However I didn’t seem to get the same results with this one and I really didn’t like the runny consistency which also meant it ran out pretty quickly!

Would I repurchase? Nope.

LA ROCHE POSAY EFFACLAR DUO

Another cult favourite and a repurchase of mine. I used this back about a year ago and rather inconsistently which meant I never really got to see results with this. I then picked it up again to try it out properly. It’s definitely a product that takes time in order to see results. When I did use this, I could definitely see my skin getting better and clearer and whilst it’s difficult to pinpoint the reasons why, this product definitely played a part in reducing my scarring. After using up the tube though I did find that it only really made a difference now and again as well as the fact I found other products that made more of a difference.

Would I repurchase? Possibly, possibly no. For the time being no, but I could try it again in the future.

CAUDALIE BEAUTY EXLIR

A very popular and fancy facial mist that I picked up in a beauty box having heard so much about it. There isn’t much to a face mist really that would make it unlike-able but it does everything pretty well. The spray is a fine mist so just sprays the right amount without being too much. It also has a very unique fragrance to it which may put many off but I actually quite like it. The only downside is that it does work out quite pricey for a facial mist and there is so many options now on the market.

Would I repurchase? I highly doubt it.

April Favourites

beauty-favourites-makeup-skincare-nars-sin-blush-charlotte-tilbury-bitch-perfect-lipstick-oskia-cleanserAnother month over, another round-up of my latest beauty favourites. As you can see, there hasn’t been many favourites this month, only three! I don’t think I have had so little favourites although it isn’t surprising since I have been having more of a makeup-free month. I was going to include some other things such as style pieces however I may reserve that for another post. So rambling over, here is my top 3 products of the month.

Starting with a skincare product, shocker I know! I haven’t really mentioned skincare too much on my blog despite my love for trying out new products. I am still trying to find my way with what works with my skin hence why I have kept it on the down low just now but there is a product I have been liking and is worth a share! The Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel is a cult favourite product and for good reason. I was a little sceptical of the hype with this one but it really does live up to it. Although I will say this cleanser is on the pricey side and I do believe that you could probably find a good cleanser at a much more affordable price that is just as good or better. However it is a nice treat to have and I just love using it. I usually reserve it for my night second cleanse however since I have more time in the morning, I have been using it both morning and night. The gel texture feels so luxurious and rich on the skin and then turns into a oil formula that is washed away to reveal smooth soft skin. Pricey but good!

On to the makeup products, first up is a new addition to my lipstick stash in particular my Charlotte Tilbury collection. I made a little order after months of lusting after the gorgeous K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick in the shade Bitch Perfect. I have a few CT lipsticks now but all of which were in the matte formula (which I adore!) however I hadn’t tried the more moisturising creamy formulated line and this nude pink shade was top of my list. I am pretty fussy when it comes to nude lipsticks, there are many different shades available but it can be tricky finding the perfect match for my skin tone that is flattering and doesn’t wash me out. This shade is just so perfect and the formula too. The colour leans on the peachy-pink side of things so offers a soft pop of colour but still remains neutral in tone. The formula is super creamy and hydrating yet the longevity is impressive for such a moisturising lipstick! I need more!

Last of my picks comes from Nars. I am a huge fan of their blushes and it was never going to be long before I picked up another shade. This time I went for Sin, a gorgeous shimmery mauve plum-y toned blush that looks so flattering on my pale skin. The formula of these are great too being super buttery and soft to apply and blend. The pigmentation is also superb and only requires a light hand for pop of colour to the cheeks. Big love to the Nars monochrome packaging too, swoon!

Skincare Wishlist

Skincare Wishlist

It’s not been long since my last wishlist post but here I am again with another one. This time around though we are talking all about skincare. This time last year I really had a next to nothing interest in skincare. I always felt so overwhelmed with the many serums, oils and creams out there that all claimed to be the bee’s knees. I never ever imagined I would be the person splurging on a daily moisturiser but I thought the same about makeup and look how that turned out… So of course I have now went down the same route with skincare lusting after high end brands and fancy face masks cause why not! I am still trying to nail down a good skincare routine so for the moment I am testing things out trying to find the perfect products for my skin and I have some products that I would still really like to try out.

Kiehl’s is a brand I’ve heard so much about but never personally have I ventured into as of yet. As you can see there are quite a few products from their range that I would love to get my hands on. The first being an eye cream. Being a young un’ I’ve never really seen the need in eye cream but the under eye area is so delicate and mine could do with a little more moisture. Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment has had a lot of loving out there and I would love to try it out myself. The addition of avocado oil sounds super nourishing and a real treat for my under eyes.

Also from Kiehl’s is their Midnight Recovery Oil. I am a huge lover of oils and this is one I’ve been desperate to try for ages. It sounds perfect for injecting a bit of radiance into your skin but also to help clear your skin which is something I could do with. Also as I am looking for a new moisturiser I have heard a lot of good things about the Kiehl’s range. Their Ultra Facial Cream sounds pretty darn good. It’s a small tub at 50ml but I imagine a little would go a long way. I am definitely going to get my hands on this one!

Moving on from Kiehl’s, there is a cult fave amongst my list. Of course it is the Pixi Glow Tonic which everyone and their mum seems to rave about. I’ve been really getting into the First Aid Beauty Radiance Pads and this Glow Tonic is meant to be pretty similar. Whilst delivering a bucket of radiance to the skin, it is also said to be good for dealing with breakouts and blemished skin. Basically right up my street and if Caroline Hirons approves then it must be a good un’.

Obviously I couldn’t do this wishlist without mentioning a good face mask. The Australian brand Aesop has such a good range of products in the most beautiful minimalist packaging. Whilst I own their hand cream I would love to try more from the brand. Their Parsley Seed Mask again is very popular in the beauty world (is there a trend here..) and sounds like the perfect face mask for me. This mask is meant to be pretty good for clearing your pores and dealing with blemishes. I still haven’t found a good mask or treatment in my routine to help clear blemishes and who knows this could be the one?

Lastly, is a cleanser from Oskia. Oskia have also had a lot of loving lately and they are a brand I’ve been so desperate to try out particularly their Renaissance Cleansing Gel. All their products sound super luxurious and sometimes we need a little luxury for our face, right? I love oil based cleansers and when applied to the skin this Oskia gel forms into an oil. This may be one for the SpaceNK points!
