When July hits it finally feels like Summer. With warmer weather and holidays approaching it is time to get Summer ready. With my summer wardrobe a little on the neutral side, the best way to add a splash of colour to any outfit is through some brightly coloured nails. I have a small but sweet selection of great summer appropriate nail shades that will look super vibrant and help enhance a tan.
Barry M Gelly High Shine Dragon Fruit – This is a super pretty light but bold pink shade. I actually bought this originally to go with an all white outfit and it adds a little pop of colour. Such a pretty shade and you really can’t go wrong with the Barry M Gelly formula!
Barry M Nail Paint Coral – You can’t have Summer without wearing a little bit of coral! The neon-like pink-y orange-y hue is so perfect for Summer and one of those shades that will make you look even more tanned, bonus!
Essie Avenue Maintain – Now blue is a shade that you may think is more of a colder season colour but a bold blue hue is perfect for Summer. A shade like Avenue Maintain which I talked about in more detail here is the perfect blue shade. It is basically the perfect blue sea in a bottle!
OPI Guy Meets Gal-veston – A red is one of those shades that can work all year round. It adds a bold vibrant colour to any look but still manages to look uber chic. I talked about this shade before here but it really is a great colour and the formula is spot on too!
Barry M Gelly High Shine Key Lime – The name of this polish just gets me hungry, anyone else? Now this takes bright to the next level. I find green one of those tricky colours to work but this beautiful lime green works great at adding a little vibrancy. Either teamed with a neutral outfit for a pop of colour or with a Technicolor dream-coat look going on this brings it all together.
Barry M Gelly High Shine Grape Fruit – You might be able to tell by now that I am a fan of the Barry M Gelly polishes! Another one perfect for Summer is this bold pink shade that again will look great with a tan. The bright shade would be a great addition to any neutral outfit to give it a touch of colour.
What nail colours will be you wearing this Summer?
I’ve finally put my darker greys and blues away in favour of something a little more summery for my nails. You can never go wrong with a classic red. It adds a little more vibrancy to any outfit but still remains sophisticated and chic. The red I have been sporting recently comes from OPI in the shade name ‘Guy Meets Gal-veston’ which doesn’t make much sense to me but it’s what’s in the inside that counts, eh!? The formula of this is spot-on. A long-lasting formula with an opaque finish in 2 coats. The consistency is rather weird, a very thin and watery like formula but weirdly builds up a really good colour. I only own a couple of OPI polishes so I am not incredibly familiar with the brand but with the quality of this nail polish, I will definitely be looking to expand my collection!
Its that time of the month again… Monthly favourites! Ever since I’ve started doing these monthly favourite posts I feel like time goes so much quicker as if I’m posting one of these every week … is it just me!? Anyway October is over, can you believe it! So its now time to round up some of my favourites from the month 🙂
First up is a product I just get so excited at by just looking at it, its the Nars Laguna bronzer. I did a review on this not too long ago which you can check out here. Its the perfect bronzer, it looks so natural and has such a lovely shimmer to it. If you haven’t tried it, you must!
Next is a lip product by Mac and its the lipstick in the shade Mac Twig. This is a great fall lipstick, its a browny-red shade or as they say “your lips but better shade”. If you are a fan of the Kylie Jenner 90s esque lip then this shade is perfect to try and also if you aren’t a fan of berry lips then this is a great fall go-to colour.
Another one of my favourites is an OPI polish in the shade Guy Meets Gal-Veston. I actually have this on my nails just now and its a lovely bright red shade. When I first applied this I was a bit weary about it as the formula was a tad watery however I am so impressed with it, while it is a bit chipped now the lasting quality of this polish is amazing it lasted me over a week with no chipped nails or cracks. Amazing
And last but not least my Topshop black slip-ons. Now if you seen my October Pick of the Month I had a pair of River Island tartan plimsolls and I discussed the fact that I was lusting over a pair of plain black ones .. well you can see what happened. These shoes are well on trend this season and I totally get why, they are so comfortable but also look amazing with anything. I just love my plimsolls!
Hello my lovely followers, I hope you all have had a splendid weekend. I must admit I am quite proud of myself for the amount of posts I have posted recently (pretty good for me anyway). So anyway, I received an order from Fragrance Direct the other day and I wanted to share a few bits that I got. Now if you haven’t heard of the Fragrance Direct website you are really missing out! Fragrance Direct sell branded fragrances, nail polish and makeup at discounted prices mostly because the items are discontinued or are from a previous season.
Firstly, I picked up three bottles of Essie nail polish which was at a fab price of £2.25 rather than its RRP of £7.99. There was quite a nice selection of different shades available although I went for Mind your mittens, Power Clutch and Vested Interest which are all quite dark shades however very appropriate for next season as we approach fall.
I then picked up a couple of shades from OPI at a bargain of £3.99 rather than its pricey £13.95 price tag. This time I picked up more lighter shades Guy Meets Gal-Veston which is a nice bright red shade and Tickle my France-y which is a light pink nude shade.
And last for the nail polish I picked up a cute Ciate polish for a neat £1.99 rather than its original price of £9. I picked up this nail polish in the shade Fly with me which is a turquoise/teal colour and it also appears to have a glimmer of pink shimmer through it which you may see on the bottle above.
I then picked up a great bargain lipstick by Calvin Klein for £1.99! The Calvin Klein makeup range has actually been discontinued so they don’t sell it anymore or make any new products. The lipstick was originally valued at £13.50 which is an amazing saving and I picked this up in the shade Delightful which is a nice light pink shade.
And last but not least I picked up a eyeshadow from Dainty Doll, a makeup range created by Nicola Roberts for people with pale skin (like me). I picked this up a for an amazing 99p! which is even better considering its original £11.50 price tag. I picked up the shade Treat her like a Lady which is a soft light greyish colour. It also comes in a cute compact with a mirror which I think is pretty cool.
