February Playlist

February Playlist Lauren Conrad Beauty Make Up For EverIt’s felt like such a long time since I last did a playlist post but I am back again resuming my monthly mix-tape posts. I did miss it out last month but instead I did a 2015 round up playlist which you can check here. This month though has seen quite a few new releases in the music world which really took my attention. Firstly, I can’t not mention Zayn and his first solo single Pillow Talk which is annoyingly catchy! Although to show my dedication to the other boys, 1D’s latest album has been playing constantly over the last few weeks. I am still truly obsessed! I have also started to have a little thing for Years & Years who are pretty damn good. I especially love their song Eyes Shut which has been one of my most played over February. I am also loving the new Little Mix song with Jason Derulo which takes on a more ballad style track for them. Finally, a couple of new album releases got me well excited. Panic at the Disco’s new album is amazing, quite different from their previous albums with a more swing Sinatra style but I love it. The 1975 also have a new album which isn’t actually out til TODAY but they have released a few tracks and so far it is sounding very impressive with a ton of 80s vibes!

November Playlist

November PlaylistTime for another monthly mix-tape and this month was pretty exciting music wise as there was quite a few new album releases that got me jamming all month long. 5 Seconds of Summer released their new album at the start of the month and I’ve been loving it. I still love their first album but this may have topped it! Some of my favourites from the album are Jet Black Heart, Castaway and The Girl who Cried Wolf. I also have tickets to see them again next year which is super exciting stuff and I can’t wait to hear them play some of their newer songs. Another amazing album release was of course from my favourites; One Direction with their new album Made in the AM which has basically been all I have listened to since it came out. It’s without a doubt their best album yet and there is so many songs on the album well worth a lot of praise. I could pretty much list the whole album as my favourite tracks but if I had to be strict then I would name my top 3 (currently!) as If I Could Fly, Walking in the Wind and Wolves. So whilst those two albums pretty much dominated my entire month, I also have to give mention to Justin Bieber’s ‘Sorry’ which I can’t stop hearing on the radio and also Not on Drugs by Tove Lo which is another catchy one.

Monthly Roundup: October

October RoundupWith November days away it’s time to round up my month of October. Oh how scary that sounds! October has been a bit of a hectic month for me to say the least. With demanding uni deadlines and just not enough hours in the day unfortunately my blog came last in my list of priorities this month. Writing blog posts has been a bit of a rush this month and I did annoyingly miss a couple of posting days. I really do apologise for that, it is incredibly annoying and pretty difficult trying to keep everything in schedule. With a couple of assignments getting out the way I do hope that I can keep on top of things for next month and maybe get a little more organised (potential blog post right there?).

Anyway moving on from the negatives, whilst my month was consumed by work and more work I also had a few exciting things happen. Firstly, now If you recall my monthly roundup back in July here I spoke about how I passed my driving theory test. It’s been a few months since then but after booking my practical driving test, I passed first time! So I am now a legal driver, how exciting! I am so so happy! It’s just been so much more convenient now that I can drive! I also tried my hand at motorway driving last week which is very different but not too bad. Definitely something I will need to get used to though!

Also yet again something I will be mentioning for the billionth time but I finally had my One Direction concert this month. You may or may not know but I am a huge fan of the boys and have been waiting for months to see them on their UK tour. My show finally came around and it was truly amazing! It was also really nice to have something to look forward to and it was just an amazing night that I wish I could do all over again.

Lastly, an exciting and very well longed after purchase happened. You may recall way back in August I did a Birthday wishlist post and featured the Tarte Tartelette palette which of course was sold out for ages. After doing a little bit of browsing I found it in stock and of course had to pick it up! I am more of a shimmer gal than matte so it’s definitely a bit different for me but I am enjoying using it so far. I will give you all a more detailed review though later! Speaking of Tarte though, I would love to hear any recommendations from the brand, I am dying to try out more of their products! So please do let me know your favourite Tarte products! I was hoping that October would be a no spending month but of course that never happened so I did pick up a few other beauty bits that I am sure I will be mentioning over the course of the next month.

Catch up on October posts: Discovering Maple Holistics, Contouring & Highlighting with Seventeen, Four for Fall: Blush, When You’re Feeling Under The Weather and the Autumn Nails Edit.

October Playlist

October PlaylistAnother month nearly gone by, another month full of new music to my ears. In terms of music, this month was pretty darn exciting. I mentioned briefly earlier in my Going Out Makeup Look post here that I went to see One Direction this month. Again I won’t go too much into it because I will be mentioning it again in my next post but it did mean that 1D were top of my list this month. More excitedly they gave us another little spoiler to their album with two new tracks; Infinity and Perfect which are both so good and have been blaring out my speakers for the whole month. Their support act Jamie Lawson also made my list after hearing his #1 track Wasn’t Expecting That which is just the most beautiful yet emotional song I have ever heard, totally worth a listen for a good cry! Two of my favourite bands came back onto the scene this month, the first being The 1975 with their new song Love Me which is incredible and so different to their usual sound but I am loving the funked up beat. Also 5SOS came back with a new album, whilst I haven’t fully gave the album a proper listen I am still loving a couple of their new songs. Also on my list include new songs from Little Mix, Adam Levine and of course the killer comeback tune Hello from Adele.

August Playlist

August PlaylistIt’s time for another monthly roundup, this time in terms of the music I’ve had on repeat for the last month. This month has been a bit of mix with a lot of songs from artists I couldn’t even name one thing about. Basically this month I have gained a lot of new music discoveries that I am already singing word for word. That includes Bleachers, The Paper Kites and Charlotte Carpenter, three artists/bands that before went unknown to me. Three incredible different artists though that deserve every bit of recognition with each boasting a different unique sound that I admire. Of course there is also a little more mainstream music in my playlist too this month. Obviously One Direction are included. Let’s forget the whole dramatic break thing going on and focus on their amazing new single Drag Me Down which is so good. They have definitely proved they can be a successful four-piece without Zayn! Also, I have been listening to a couple of oldies from one of my faves, Twin Atlantic. A beautiful tune by Birdy who has the most beautiful voice, a catchy number by Shawn Mendes and a killer cover by Gary Jules makes up the last of the playlist.

Empties #2

EmptiesSince I’ve built up quite a few empty products over the month, it’s time for another Empties post. With these products in their last days I thought I would review what I thought about them and whether I will be making a repurchase.

One Direction Our Moment – First on the list is a shower gel. How exciting! I am going to try and refrain from mentioning my love for One Direction too much here and focus purely on their wonderfully scented shower gel. This came alongside their perfume ‘Our Moment’ and the scent is incredibly similar. The scent is very fruity and floral and isn’t too bad in terms of longevity on the skin. Would I repurchase? No not really, I don’t really go out my way to purchase shower gel and this one would probably be quite a hassle to find and continuously buy, it is lovely though 🙂

Lush Mask of Magnaminty – Next up is a peppermint mask from Lush. I heard quite a lot about this mask and thought it would be a good addition to help clear my skin. The peppermint scent is dreamy and feels so fresh on the skin. It does leave your skin feeling super soft and fresh. In terms of blemishes, I don’t think its a miracle worker but what is!? Would I repurchase? Probably, I do love a bit of peppermint and it does make my skin feel hydrated and clean.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-oil – You may be familiar with me talking about this Body Shop oil before. I absolutely love face oils, they are such a great way to add a layer of hydration and help with any dry skin especially around Winter time. This one lasted me quite a while so it really is great value and really does help recharge my skin as well as making my skin more radiant. Would I repurchase? Hell yes!

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser – I am without a doubt a true primer gal, I really can’t go a day without putting a layer of primer on before anything else. In a constant hunt for the perfect primer I thought I would try this one from Maybelline which many suggested as being a dupe for the much loved Benefit Porefessional. Sadly, I have to disagree on that one. The aim of ‘erasing’ pores sadly just doesn’t do it for me and the primer feels very heavy and greasy on my skin contradicting with the lightweight feel it says it is supposed to give. Would I repurchase? No.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer – It is the incredibly hyped up product from a brand I never ever made eye contact with (until the hype sucked me up!). For many this is holy grail status, for me it isn’t anywhere near that I’m afraid. I tried but I really couldn’t get on with this. With my skin suffering from blemishes and redness, i really need something to help camouflage this, sadly this concealer just didn’t offer me the coverage I needed. It also stuck to my dry patches and the lasting power wasn’t quite good enough for me either. Would I repurchase? No.

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation – Again this is another popular beauty item that I’m sure many of you are a fan of. For me yet again sadly it never lived up to the hype. At first I liked this and then when I began to continuously use it, I got put off. Firstly, I think I must have picked the wrong shade as it was a little too light for my skin. The main problems for me however was that it didn’t last long at all which is something I look for in foundation and it clung to dry areas of my skin. Would I repurchase? No.

Are you a fan of any of these products?

November Playlist

Its time to reflect on my fave tunes from November. And tragically this month there has only been one album I’ve has on repeat. Yup. It can only be One Direction. Their new album ‘Four’ was released this month and me being ‘slightly’ obsessed with them got me a tad excited for the new release and its still on my daily traveling playlist, repeat after repeat. The album is the perfect continuation from their previous ones and has a more mature and less boyband pop sound to it. My fave tracks have to be 18 (written by the fab Ed Sheeran), Ready to Run and Fools Gold.. I love them all though 🙂 And I’m loving the video for ‘Night Changes’..
