July Playlist

July PlaylistIt’s that time again when I give you all a snippet into the music I’ve been singing along to for the past month. As I’ve probably mentioned for the gazillion-th time I went on holiday this month so it gave me the perfect opportunity to listen to some new music. One album I had been so desperate to listen to in full was Hozier’s album titled Hozier (genius or what!). I had heard Take Me To Church and Someone New a lot and fell in love with his amazing unique voice. I basically had the album on repeat while lounging by the pool on a daily basis and it really is an amazing album. My favourite song has to be In a Week, which also features vocalist Karen Cowley and other favourites include From Eden and Jackie and Wilson. It’s definitely a great album I recommend giving a listen! As well as the soft sounds of Hozier, I also enjoyed some upbeat songs from the likes of Rita Ora, 5SOS and Little Mix. I also reengaged my love for Mumford and Sons by listening to a couple of new tracks from their album which I still need to properly listen to in full but I am loving their sound (as usual).

May Playlist

May PlaylistWe are reaching the sixth month of the year… Woah we’re half way there… sorry couldn’t resist. Anyway this month has been a bit of a mix again in terms of my music playlist. As my first year at uni has finally concluded *hallelujah* I haven’t needed to dig out my earphones too much but I have definitely had some background music on the go. This month I have turned back to a favourite of mine: 5 Seconds of Summer or 5SOS. The Australian band released their debut album last year and its hella good. They’ve got quite the Busted style vibe going on, taking me well back to my grand childhood. I have also switched them on as a little preparation for next week as rather excitedly I am going to see them live, woo! I have seen them before when they supported 1D but now I am returning to see them as the main act. I’m pretty damn excited especially since I bought my tickets like a year ago! Also, I have rekindled my love for Mumford and Sons listening to some of their older tracks as well as a little listen into their new stuff. Its pretty good as you would expect if you are a fan of their music. There is also a few other tunes thrown in for good measure which I have also been loving this month.

Album Review: In a Perfect World by Kodaline

IMG_3369One of my favorite albums at the moment is In a Perfect World, the debut album by Irish folk-rock band Kodaline. I find it difficult to find an album were I like every song on it and this album does quite that, while I have my favorites every song is worth listening to and I won’t be pressing skip at any time. The album overall is quite folk/indie style and most songs are quite peaceful and relaxing so I wouldn’t recommend it for a party playlist but its very handy while cooking or just relaxing as it has that perfect calming mood. There is 11 songs on the album or if you buy through itunes there are 15 songs. Every song is worth a listen however I would recommend a few: first track One Day which is quite a slow and peaceful track, High Hopes which again is a slow number and also a bit of a tear-jerker, Its not all glum though more upbeat tracks like Love Like This and Way Back When which I love and are full of positive and happy vibes. You also may have heard All I want which featured in the soundtrack and movie The Fault in Our Stars. Also check out their cover of Latch by Disclosure which is just fantastic and beautiful. If you are a fan of Coldplay or Mumford and sons you may quite like these guys.

5/5 for me!
