An Introduction To Kat Von D

kat-von-d-everlasting-liquid-lipstick-double-dare-outlaw-lovesick-mother-tattoo-trooper-eyeliner-majick-lolitaAs an all-round beauty lover I do get rather excited by the release of new products but nothing quite like the excitement of hearing that Kat Von D’s makeup line is finally available in the UK. *celebration dance*  It could get even better with the rumours of Sephora opening in the UK but let’s not get ahead of ourselves! Back to KVD however, I have accumulated quite a few products from the range that I just have to share!

As a bit of a liquid lipstick hoarder obviously I couldn’t wait to get my hands on some of the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks. I have four (so far!) in total, two in full size and two minis from sets. I picked up the shades Lovesick and Mother from Debenhams, both of which fall into the pink-y mauve plum-y toned shades, my favourite! The other two are popular shades being Double Dare, a gorgeous rosy toned shade which came in the London Calling set exclusive to Debenhams and Outlaw a beautiful bold red that I picked up from Love Me Beauty. The formulation is also amazing in that it offers a comfortable finish that is easy to apply and lasts well.

From both my miniature sets I picked up, I received an eyeliner and lipstick in each. The Debenhams set offers a mini of the iconic Tattoo Liner in Trooper that I have been desperate to try for years! I used to wear eyeliner constantly and then went off it but this is definitely swaying me back towards the liner look! From first use I knew this one is well worth the hype. It is intensely pigmented and has such a fine nib which makes it perfect for applying close to the lash line. Most importantly though, the brush tip makes it incredibly easy to use and perfect for a liner noob like me!  On the other hand, Love Me Beauty were offering the Ink Liner which I didn’t even realise was different but is! Again it is very similar except the good part in which instead of the brush tip it has a normal pen style tip making it not as easy to use! So without a doubt, go for the tattoo liner!

Finally, each set also featured one of the Studded Kiss lipsticks. The two shades I picked up were Lolita, a classic KVD shade being a beautiful chestnut rose shade and Magick, a light dusty pink. I have only worn Lolita once so I can’t say much but it felt comfortable on the lips, it did start to slightly feather though on the lips and it didn’t exactly blow me away, nevertheless I am sure they will both still get the wear!

September Favourites

Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette, Sephora 55 Airbush Brush Collection, Review, Lovesick, VanillaIt’s hard to believe that the countdown to Christmas is now on. Three months people, three months. Summer is over and Autumn is beginning (finally!). Festive season excitement behind, September is now over and it’s time to round up my beauty favourites from the month. This month, I didn’t try many new things or change up my makeup that frequently but there is still a few items that I am desperate to have a little rave about!

A product that I’ve had in my stash for so long and for so long has received the silent treatment is the beauty that is the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette. I was so excited when this palette was released that I refreshed the Debenhams website basically every minute for hours waiting for it to be in stock. Obviously as you can see I was in luck but I did buy it at an inconvenient time as Summer came and I hardly wore makeup so this palette didn’t get much use! However I have pulled this out again to start getting use out of it especially since I need to review this beauty asap which I will do! The palette has some gorgeous golden-y peachy tones that make for a great everyday look and the shadow quality is impressive!

The next product I’ve been loving is an old favourite that many of you will be sick of hearing me rave about! I finally repurchased the Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer (full review here) which I just adore. I had been dabbling in a few different concealers recently and none of them offered the coverage and longevity that the Nars one delivers. I basically couldn’t wait any longer and had to get this wonder product back in my life. You either love it or you hate it but for me as a concealer for blemishes, it works incredibly well. Full coverage that lasts all day without being cakey! Perfect!

A couple of new products in my stash. Firstly, the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lovesick which is finally now stocked in the UK *happy dance*. I had been desperate to try these lipsticks for ages and I am so glad to have tried them now as they are so worth the hype! I love a good liquid lipstick and this is definitely one of my favourites. The shade Lovesick is a great cool toned pink shade that makes a great everyday shade. The formula is also comfortable and basically so far so good!

Lastly, a makeup brush that just blew me away from the first use, the Sephora #55 brush which I mentioned in this haul. I had heard so many great things about this brush so couldn’t wait to finally get my hands on it. I am also glad to say it lives well and truly up to all the hype. It is the perfect size for foundation and is beautifully soft. It is also not overly fluffy but also not too dense either which makes it just perfect! The handle on the brush is also a lot longer than most other makeup brushes I own which I really like. Most importantly though, it blends in foundation beautifully and with a natural finish!

Sephora Haul

Sephora beauty haul us makeup american blog blogger Anastasia Beverly Hills, Liquid Lipstick, Soft Lilac, Dusty Rose, Sunday Riley, Luna, Good Genes, Sephora Brush 55, Collection, Marc Jacobs, Birthday GiftMy birthday happened and naturally Sephora happened. Being like any other UK beauty lover, I do love a good moan about not having a Sephora but I mean seriously where is our UK Sephora already!? However if there is any consolation, Sephora offer a pretty decent international shipping service! Of course after waiting for so long I finally took advantage and finally got my hands on a couple of things I had been desperate to pick up! I didn’t buy much but of course the total of my order was pretty high so I left a few things for another future order (obviously!)

In terms of actually ordering internationally, the process is luckily pretty simple. Sephora offer a flat shipping rate of £6 to the UK when you spend over £75 (which is very easy to do!) which is a pretty decent price for coming from the other side of the pond considering the cost of some shipping prices even just within the UK. The customs fees is obviously the biggest issue when it comes to ordering from overseas but the great thing about Sephora is that you get a total for all your fees and pay it at checkout so there is no extra charges when it arrives at your door and you know exactly what you are paying for. The actual delivery service itself is pretty darn impressive! It did take a while for my order to be dispatched however once it was dispatched it arrived just two days later which is amazing for something coming from such a long distance!

Anyway on the actual products, the exciting bit! Starting first with the most expensive thing I picked up that really racked up the total cost of my order. A Sephora exclusive from Sunday Riley, the Power Couple duo set including a half size bottle of both Luna Oil and Good Genes treatment. I’ve wanted to pick this up for ages as I’ve been desperate to get my hands on the cult product that is the Luna Oil. Both products individually full size are pricey and I wasn’t prepared to drop £85 on an oil and then not like it! So this set comes in a bit a cheaper and gives you the chance to try two popular products! I am currently road-testing this just now and will do a proper review later however for the time being I can’t say it has worked wonders as many people have claimed!

On to the makeup picks. I obviously had to make a little Anastasia Liquid lipstick purchase! There is so many shades it was hard to pick but I narrowed it down to Dusty Rose and Soft Lilac. I actually haven’t tried these yet but the shades look gorgeous so I am excited to give these a go!

Another Sephora exclusive product I have been desperate to try is from their own brand and one of their brushes. The brush in question is the Pro Airbush #55. I have heard so much about this foundation brush so naturally I had to pick it up! I’ve used this a handful of times so far and I am obsessed already! It blends product in so well and quickly! It’s even worked wonders with some foundations that I have struggled with application so I definitely recommend this brush! Any recommendations from their brush line as I definitely need to try more now!

Lastly, as it was my birthday I obviously also picked up my birthday gift from Sephora. There was a choice between a Fresh beauty set and a Marc Jacobs gift and obviously I went for Marc Jacobs as I have been desperate to try out the range. It includes a mini lipstick and gel eyeliner which I am very much looking forward to trying!

Current Beauty Wishlist

beauty wishlist autumn fall 2016 makeup lipstick kat von d uk liquid too faced anastasia chanel charlotte tilbury, modern reniassance, eyeshadow palette, chanel fall 2016 rouge palette

As a beauty obsessive, I have a wishlist much longer than my arm on a regular basis. Although instead of boring you all with a list the length of the yellow pages, I have rounded up some of my top picks that I have been lusting over!

There is quite a few eyeshadow products as I do love a good eye palette, I just can’t get enough really! I have two quads on my list from Chanel and Charlotte Tilbury. The first is from the new fall Chanel Le Rouge collection. The quad is basically autumn in a palette, a gorgeous trio of warm brown shades and a beautiful and slightly daring red shade. It is pricey but you can’t go wrong with a beautiful monochrome Chanel compact eh! The Charlotte Tilbury option is slightly different being a collection of gold-y neutral shades that looks very seasonally appropriate! Again I think this one is limited edition so hopefully I can snap up this one soon!

The last eyeshadow option is from Anastasia and their well hyped Modern Renaissance palette. What drew me to this palette, other than the fact that I’ve seen it everywhere is that the colour selection is beautifully unique. The warm shade selection looks well up my street and could even persuade me to experiment a bit with colour! The packaging looks super cute too!

I am also so incredibly hyped to see that Kat Von D makeup is finally coming to the UK. Hallelujah! I’ve been desperate to try the ever so popular liquid lipsticks so I can’t wait to finally get my hands on a couple. I am not particularly sure what shades yet, any recommendations?

Lastly, is the Sweethearts bronzer from Too Faced. I’ve not tried much from Too Faced but everything I have, I have really liked! This bronzer looks so pretty and that’s not just the packaging! The light and dark shade combination looks perfect for my skin tone and I’ve heard that the pigmentation is pretty good too! So hopefully I can nab this one quick!

5 Beauty Products Under £10

Beauty Products Under £10You may recall my 5 Beauty Products under £5 post? Well now its time for another, although this time with a slightly bigger budget at £10. The drugstore really have some gems and these particular products are favourites of mine and best of all they can be each be purchased with just one £10 note.

First up are the gorgeous Max Factor Creme Puff blushes. I have one in the shade Gorgeous Berries and gorgeous really does sum it up. These swirly baked blushes are said to be a dupe of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes which are stunning but expensive so these make a great alternative. Drugstore blushes are never really that appealing if I’m honest but Max Factor have really delivered with these blushes making them one of the best drugstore launches in a long time! Great quality, gorgeous and affordable!

Another great pick from Max Factor is their Excess Shimmer Eyeshadows. These are the perfect drugstore cream eyeshadow with a whipped like creamy texture and bold pigment. Similar to the Maybelline Colour Tattoos but with a much easier and creamier formula. I have two shades, Bronze and Copper which are two gorgeous shimmery shades. The name ‘excess shimmer’ may put people off but seriously there is nothing overly shimmery here, just the perfect amount of shimmer that can be worn on an everyday basis. A really beautiful formula worth picking up!

The Queen of Drugstore Eyebrow Products is of course Soap and Glory. They have a great selection of brow products that could easily rival Benefit and put other drugstore brands to shame. My favourite is of course the Archery pencil which is supposedly a dupe for the Anastasia Brow Wiz? This pencil comes with a pencil end (obviously) and a spoolie end. It is a super quick and easy product to use and creates a much fuller brow but still leaves your brows looking natural and soft.

I finally caved into buying one of the much hyped Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks a while back and I am forever lusting after more. As liquid lipsticks really have their moment, Bourjois stole the show with their affordable but quality version. I picked up the shade Hot Pepper, a bright red which has strong pigment and superb lasting power. These have a really nice formula too which glide on smoothly without any stickiness and dry down to a smooth matte finish. Now what shade to get next…

Lastly, I couldn’t do this post without mentioning one of my favourites. The Topshop Glow Pot Highlighter in Polished. Highlighters are one thing that the drugstore has been rather slow at delivering but Topshop have set the bar high and really have produced some glowy gems. This is my favourite from the collection, a creamy based pearly coloured highlighter that gives such a fresh radiant glow. Pressed along the cheekbones, this is just perfect and one you need in your collection.
