Makeup For A Job Interview

job-interview-makeup-look-appropriate-natural-beauty-menuPreparing for a job interview can be a daunting task and to add to the pressure of selling yourself on the day, your own presentation is important. Red lips, dramatic liner and extreme contouring may be your go-to look but when it comes to work, it’s best to keep things simple and natural. Obviously if you are applying for a beauty related job then that would be different however any other job outside the fashion industry it is best to keep it minimal. Having had to practice this look this month, I thought I would share my tips and go-to products for keeping it interview and work appropriate.

For base, I like to stick to something minimal and lightweight. The BareMinerals Complexion Rescue is my go-to light base which provides a gorgeous light coverage and tons of glow. The glowy factor also means that highlighter can take a back step with this look which is good considering the highlight on fleek look isn’t really the most suitable for interviews. To finish the base, concealer is a must to cover any blemishes and disguise darkness under the eyes and a setting of powder to help mattify any shine.

Again, keeping things simple I like to stick to a sweep of bronzer to add a little warmth to my skin without any harsh contouring or anything too over the top. I skipped on blush just to keep things simple but there is nothing wrong with adding a little flush of colour too!

For eyes, I don’t want to overuse the word simple but really simple is the only way to describe it. Instead of blending hundreds of shades together it is easier to stick to a one shade look and nothing that is too dramatic. I am a huge fan of the Maybelline Colour Tattoos which are a complete bargain! The shade Creamy Beige is a gorgeous warm brown that really defines the eye when added through the crease. To finish, lashings of mascara for a simple but pretty eye look.

There is only really one option when it comes to lips and that is nude, nude, nude! Obviously there is many different variations of nudes and formulations so whatever suits you and looks natural. A like to go for a creamy sheeny formulation which brings me back to my first Mac lipstick; Shy Girl which is a gorgeous peach-y nude and a great example of a work appropriate shade!
