Things To Do This Christmas

christmas, festive, things to do, trips, travel, activities, plans, lifestyle, holiday 2016, list, makeup, beautyThis time of year is my favourite, not just because of the big day itself on the 25th but also the excitement of the run up til Christmas when there is just so much going on! Whilst I may not be concerned on all things festive just yet with exams on the horizon (just a few more days to go til its all over!!), I do love spending time doing Christmas-y things. So I have made a list of some of my favourite things to do around this time of year, both big and small to help get you in the festive spirit!

  • Make a Christmas play-list with all your favourite Christmas songs (I personally cannot wait to do this!)
  • Do some Christmas baking, mince pies or maybe some gingerbread men?
  • Try out a Christmas drink from a coffee shop, I personally love the Starbucks Gingerbread Latte and Frappuccino!
  • Tackle the Christmas shopping!
  • Visit a Christmas market!
  • Treat yourself to a limited edition holiday beauty product! (I love the Nars products!)
  • Burn your favourite Christmas candle, I love The White Company Winter candle!
  • Decorate your home!
  • Stock up on Christmas Lush goodies (see my picks here!)
  • Have a Christmas movie night!
  • Get all the glitter out cause… IT’S CHRISTMAS!

Christmas Sugar Cookies

Christmas Sugar CookiesIf there is one thing I love to do at Christmas time, it is baking. When I have a little free time on my hands, I love to try out a new recipe and especially something Christmas inspired at this time of year to get that festive feeling! This time around I thought I would bake something easy and went with cookies/biscuits that I could decorate all pretty and Christmas-y. So if you are looking for something easy to bake over the festive period, then this is a nice simple one I thought I would share with you all. All credit for this recipe comes from here. It’s been a while since I last did a foodie post so enjoy!

Ingredients

100g margarine/butter

1 egg

100g caster sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

275g plain flour

Icing sugar and sprinkles for decoration

Method

Firstly, pre-heat the oven to 190C/Gas mark 5.

Cream the sugar and butter together.

Mix in the egg and vanilla extract, a little at a time until all is combined.

Then, stir in the flour until it forms into a dough texture.

Roll out the dough on a floured surface and use cutters to cut the cookies out.

Place on a baking tray and cook for approx 10 mins until light golden brown.

Allow to cool whilst preparing icing using icing sugar and water.

Finally, add your own decoration using sprinkles, icing etc.
