Paris Fashion Week:Christian Dior Fall 2013 RTW

Paris Fashion Week is probably the most anticipated fashion week of them all with some of the best fashion houses taking to the runway and yesterday was no exception as Christian Dior followed on. There was a clear Monochromatic theme running through the show which as I said previously seems to be a key trend for Fall 2013. Other noticeable trends in the show were the Dogtooth print and the masculine look which was demonstrated through over-sized coats and suits. Here below are some shots from the runway show. Are you a fan of this collection ? To see all the runway shots go to Style.com. Credit to Style.com for images.

Best Dressed of the BAFTAs 2013

On Sunday evening as well as the Grammys of course it was also the BAFTAs in London which was attended by many A-list celebrities hoping to pick up an award for their acting efforts. Without further a do here is my top 3 looks from the evening.  What do you think ? Who was your best dressed? Credit to Metro(PA) and Daily Mail (Rex, Joanne Davidson) for images.

Marion CotillardMarion Cotillard shone bright wearing a bright yellow Christian Dior Couture gown. This dress had mixed reviews with many criticizing the open panel but I really like this dress and it is quite quirky which is what I like about it.  You may also recognize this dress from the SAG Awards were Jennifer Lawrence wore it in a navy shade which took the headlines as it was believed she had a malfunction on her way to collect her award. Anyway I think Marion looked lovely and I really like the bright yellow colour of this dress.

Anne HathawayNext is the lovely Anne Hathaway who looked stunning in this gorgeous gold studded Burberry gown. This dress is so simple but looks amazing especially with Anne’s pixie hair cut which works well together. Anne has also kept accessories to a minimum by just sticking to simple gold bangles which are great against the dress and also keep the simplicity in the look which i love.

Gemma ArtertonLast but not least is the lovely Gemma Arterton in this beautiful Celia Kritharioti Couture 2013 Asymmetrical striped gown. This dress is stunning similar to Anne Hathaway the thing I love about this is the simplicity in the outfit as not only is it a simple but amazing looking gown it has also been toned down with minimal accessories. Gemma just looked fantastic!

Christian Dior:Couture Spring 2013

Hello everyone! Before we start can i just say that it was the blog’s 3rd birthday yesterday!!! Yay!! So i have to say Thank you to all the lovely subscribers/ followers or whatever you would like to classify yourself as so thank you very much and I hope you enjoy reading the blog! Anyway enough of the birthday thanks and celebrations as the countdown to NYFW begins here is a look at the Christian Dior Spring Couture Collection that was shown at Paris Couture Fashion Week last week.  There seemed to be a floral theme running through the show as the runway was designed with plants and greenery as well as many of the designs featured in the collection having a floral touch or spring feel to them with bright yellows and reds. The collection also features the gown that Jennifer Lawrence wore to the SAG awards last week which of course made the headlines due to her ‘malfunction’ which happened just before accepting her award. Here below are some shots from the runway show. Are you a fan of this collection ? To see all the runway shots go to Style.com. Credit to Style.com for images.

Paris Fashion Week:Christian Dior A/W 2012

Sorry for being a little late on posting for Paris Fashion Week it just completely slipped my mind. Anyway earlier today in Paris Christian Dior previewed their A/W 2012 collection. Of course John Galliano was sacked last year from Dior but its still not decided who will take over his place yet. The deputy Bill Gaytten has looked after the designing of the collection for the time being but it hasn’t been confirmed if he will take over as the head. I think he has did a grand job with the collection as it is definitely one of my favorite collections from Dior as i think its less subtle but its pretty and feminine. There was also an idea of ballet from the soft pinks and silvers as well as flowing dresses and clinched in waists giving it a ladylike but young ballet feel which i really liked.  Go to Style.com for the rest of the collection. What do you think of the collection ? Do you like it ? Credit to Style.com for images.

A-Z of Fashion. C- Couture

The third letter of my A-Z of fashion is of course C which is for Couture. It may not be a need to us but if we never had couture then there would be a huge gap in the fashion world. Couture which is otherwise known as Haute Couture which is french for high dressmaking as its high quality. A list of designers release a haute couture line including Christian Dior, Elie Saab ( My Personal Favorite) , Valentino etc . Without couture some of those A-list stars would not have wore those show-stopping pieces at the Oscars ! P.S Below is a dress from the Givenchy Spring 2011 Couture Collection . Designer John Galliano Suspended

Designer John Galliano has been placed on suspension by the House of Dior, as police investigate claims that he verbally assaulted a couple in a Paris bar with racial and religious slurs. “The House of Dior declares with the greatest firmness its policy of zero tolerance with regard to any anti-Semitic or racist statement or attitude,” Dior boss Sidney Toledano said in a statement, reports the Associated Press. “Pending the outcome of the [police] enquiry, Christian Dior has suspended John Galliano from all duties.” Police reportedly detained Galliano, 50, for a brief time Thursday night in the French capital’s fashionable Marais district after he allegedly verbally accosted a couple in a bar called The Pearl. Reports conflict as to whether the couple first approached Galliano, or the other way around. The designer’s lawyer, Stephane Zerbib, told the Agence France Presse that the Gibraltar-born, English-raised Galliano “formally denies the accusations of anti-Semitism made against him … [He] is not at all in this state of mind [and] will explain later.” Zerbib also said that “legal action will be taken against those making such accusations.” As Dior’s chief designer since 1999, Galliano was scheduled to present his latest ready-to-wear collection for the house today, followed two days later by his own John Galliano clothing line, as part of Paris Fashion Week.
