June Favourites

beauty-makeup-favourites-the-balm-liquid-lipstick-commited-hourglass-calvin-klein-the-body-shop-essie-nail-polish-mac-flat-out-fabulous-lipstick-bloggerI would say Summer has finally arrived although looking outside doesn’t really confirm that. Weather woes aside, I have got a mix of beauty favourites that I have been loving all month long. Of course as I was soaking up the sun this month, I have a few favourites that helped prep me for my time in the sun and embrace the summer vibes.

Starting with the makeup bits I have been loving, as you can see that beauty of a palette in the corner; the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit (Now Back in Stock!!), it was actually the addition of the Ambient Lighting Bronzer that I have been obsessed with! With the arrival of Summer, I have been ditching my matte bronzers in exchange for something more shimmery. This one fits the bill perfectly as it definitely packs the glow factor. I never got the most wear out of this shade as it has always been that bit too dark on my skin but right now with a light hand, it adds a gorgeous luminosity and basically makes me feel like a bronze goddess, what is not to love!?

I can never have a monthly favourites without a lip product and this month I have two loves. The first is Mac Flat Out Fabulous, a gorgeous bold fuchsia plum shade that I mentioned in my Summer lip picks post. It is such a unique shade and is super flattering on as well as having a really comfortable yet long wearing finish. The other is The Balm Meet Matte Hughes Liquid Lipstick in Committed. I basically want all the liquid lipsticks at the moment and this one had been on my list for a while. The shade is just everything I had been looking for, a deep pink nude that isn’t too dark. The formula feels super comfortable and is long wearing as well as leaving a nice stain on the lips once it wears down. I definitely need to try more of these!

Other bits and pieces that I have been loving will come as no surprise as I have mentioned all of these products this month on the blog. The first is a nail polish from Essie in the shade Sunshine State of Mind. This shade is a gorgeous vivid orange-y coral shade that is part of the Essie Summer 2016 collection. I wore this for the majority of the month when I was away and it looks pretty damn awesome with a tan!

Lastly, come summer I am all about those fresh and fruity scents and my last two favourites are the perfect examples! The first is the ck2 fragrance which I mentioned more in detail in this post. I love this fresh and woody scent, it will definitely be a long time everyday favourite of mine. Of course as well I have been obsessed with the Body Shop Pinita Colada range. I dedicated a whole post to it here, I have been loving everything that I’ve tried and the coconut-pineapple scent is so dreamy!

What have you been loving this month?

Two Summer Scents

summer-fragrances-perfume-scents-calvin-klein-ck2-ck-estee-lauder-bronze-goddessWhen it comes to fragrances, I usually go for something quite dark and musky. Basically my fragrance wardrobe is overloaded with overpowering heavy night-time appropriate scents which don’t really suit the Summer season too well. In Summer, I do love a light and fresh fragrance that isn’t too in your face and heavy. Recently I have picked up two newbies that fit the bill perfectly and I couldn’t be more obsessed with light airy scents!

First up is a real summer scent, Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess. This is essentially Summer in a bottle, in fact it is also a Summer exclusive as this scent is only available during the Summer so act quick if you are interested in this one! This scent is an Eau Fraiche so is pretty weak in perfume terms however comes in a hefty 100ml bottle at pretty good value. I picked this up when I was away so got it a good bit cheaper but it retails around the £50 mark. Moving onto the best bit however, the actual scent itself. With notes of Coconut, Vanilla and Mandarin, it’s not hard to get the Summer vibes from it! Basically, if you love something sweet and summery then you will love this!

Next is another new-ish release from Calvin Klein in the form of ck2, the second edition to their genderless fragrance.  A scent I have been desperate to get my hands on since it was released as this is just so beautiful! First of all, shout out to the unique minimalistic bottle design which is rather quirky. I picked up this scent in the biggest size being 100ml but there are smaller editions too. This size retails for £53 however I picked it up 40% off at Urban Outfitters when they had a deal on! That deal is sadly over but there are a lot of discounts around to be found! Again this is another beautifully fresh and airy scent with notes of Mandarin (similar to BG), violet leaf and sandalwood. I find this scent pretty long wearing which is good for an Eau de Toilette and it is isn’t overly sweet in scent probably because it is genderless but instead quite woody and crisp. I think this is going to be a fragrance I will love for a long time to come!

What is your favourite Summer scent?

The Spring Lip Edit

Spring Lip Edit

Spring Lip Edit SwatchesWhen it comes to Spring, berry and bold lips are taken aside in favour of peachy corals and pinks in much lighter hues. You may have seen my Spring Edit were I looked into the dewy radiant beauty look fit for Spring but now its time to delve right into some of the lips products I will be reaching for in the much warmer weather. (Each lip product I mention is in order with the swatches from Left to right.)

MAC Shy Girl – I briefly mentioned this one in my Spring Edit post, it is in fact the first ever product I bought from MAC. Its a beautiful nude peachy shade and is in a cremesheen formula which makes it slide easily over the lips. I like a light layer of clear gloss over the top for the perfect spring lip 🙂

Bourjois Colour Boost Lip Crayon Peach on the Beach – I bought this late last year and never got much wear out of it since it was around Autumn time. As the warmer weather has slowly settled in, I dug this one out for a try. Its such a pretty bright coral shade and the formula has a glossy finish. I do find this quite drying on the lips and it can settle into dry patches making it appear a little unfortunate although I have found that slightly patting it into the lips works the best.

MAC Creme Cup – I am having a bit of light pink/nude moment just now. I am already eying up several lip products of similar shades, as if one wasn’t enough! I bought this quite recently and I have been pretty much wearing it non-stop. Its such a beautiful light pink shade that isn’t too pale that it washes you out or too ‘Barbie’. Again this one is a cremesheen formula so is incredibly creamy on the lips, look out for a full review coming soon!

Chanel Rouge Coco Cecile – Of course this beauty was going to make the cut! I am totally in love with this beautiful nude pink shade from Chanel which I reviewed raved about here. The formula of the Chanel lipsticks are truly like no others, beautifully creamy and super hydrating, basically like the qualities of a lip balm but with the pigmentation of a lipstick. I am definitely eying up a few other shades from the line!

Benefit Lolli-balm – Speaking of lip balms, there is no better time than Spring to wear a good tinted balm and I can’t rave enough about my love for these Benefit offerings! The formula of these is super hydrating and nourishing on the lips but the pigmentation is also pretty impressive for a tinted balm. Lolli-balm is of a light pink shade and gives the lips such a lovely boost of colour. I reviewed this one and the Benebalm here.

Topshop Whimsical – Topshop lipsticks are something I am pretty on the fence with if I am honest. I know they are pretty popular but the shades I have feel pretty drying on the lips and aren’t as creamy as MAC offerings. Although the shade Whimiscal is something I am trying to be a little more optimistic about. It is indeed a very pretty bold coral shade, perfect for Spring. I find that similarly to the Bourjois option, this lipstick is much better when patted into the lips acting more of a lip stain as I find it uncomfortable sitting on the lips. Interestingly, my original review here still continues to be my most viewed blog post to date, ooo!

Calvin Klein Delightful – Last but not least, probably the boldest on offering here is from Calvin Klein. This shade is a bold fuchsia pink, one I haven’t got a lot of wear out of. Bold pinks are something I used to wear a lot when I was younger but I haven’t got much wear out of them in recent years but this is definitely a shade I need to pluck up the courage to wear more often! While it is pretty vibrant, its not too in your face which makes this shade a lot more wearable. The formula is also very creamy and even better I got this lipstick for only £1.99 from Fragrance Direct, bargain!

What will you be wearing on your lips this Spring?

Fragrance Direct Haul: Essie, OPI, Calvin Klein etc.

IMG_3564Hello my lovely followers, I hope you all have had a splendid weekend. I must admit I am quite proud of myself for the amount of posts I have posted recently (pretty good for me anyway). So anyway, I received an order from Fragrance Direct the other day and I wanted to share a few bits that I got. Now if you haven’t heard of the Fragrance Direct website you are really missing out! Fragrance Direct sell branded fragrances, nail polish and makeup at discounted prices mostly because the items are discontinued or are from a previous season.

IMG_3568Firstly, I picked up three bottles of Essie nail polish which was at a fab price of £2.25 rather than its RRP of £7.99. There was quite a nice selection of different shades available although I went for Mind your mittens, Power Clutch and Vested Interest which are all quite dark shades however very appropriate for next season as we approach fall.

IMG_3570I then picked up a couple of shades from OPI at a bargain of £3.99 rather than its pricey £13.95 price tag. This time I picked up more lighter shades Guy Meets Gal-Veston which is a nice bright red shade and Tickle my France-y which is a light pink nude shade.

IMG_3573And last for the nail polish I picked up a cute Ciate polish for a neat £1.99 rather than its original price of £9. I picked up this nail polish in the shade Fly with me which is a turquoise/teal colour and it also appears to have a glimmer of pink shimmer through it which you may see on the bottle above.

IMG_3576I then picked up a great bargain lipstick by Calvin Klein for £1.99! The Calvin Klein makeup range has actually been discontinued so they don’t sell it anymore or make any new products. The lipstick was originally valued at £13.50 which is an amazing saving and I picked this up in the shade Delightful which is a nice light pink shade.

IMG_3581And last but not least I picked up a eyeshadow from Dainty Doll, a makeup range created by Nicola Roberts for people with pale skin (like me). I picked this up a for an amazing 99p! which is even better considering its original £11.50 price tag. I picked up the shade Treat her like a Lady which is a soft light greyish colour. It also comes in a cute compact with a mirror which I think is pretty cool.

Worst Dressed of the Grammy Awards 2012

Now here is my worst dressed! I am only going to show 3 of the worst looks but sadly i have to say there was a lot of not so pretty looks on the red carpet on Sunday night! Do you agree with me ? Who do you think was the worst dressed ? Credit to gossip.whyfame.com and mystylebell.com for images.

This is just horrible ! Its from the Jean Paul Gaultier Couture Spring 2012 collection which i actually did a post on not that long ago. The dress isn’t as bad on the model from the runway show but I’m still not a fan of the fact that its see-through ! I don’t really want to see your underwear thanks , it would be a lot nicer if there was a layer of red sheath underneath and the model is sporting a red haired updo which i really like and i think Fergie should have been more adventurous with her hair.

Ahhhhh !!!! What the hell is with those shoes !!?? This outfit is just a disaster !! starting with the big lumberjack style ridiculous looking boots.. Who the hell would wear these and especially to a red carpet event like the Grammys!!! Robyn has serious problems. This is just so embarrassing !! She is then took an oversized white tee and slapped on a white mullet style skirt which looked terrible and as if she has picked up a piece of white fabric and just sewn it on to the back of her skirt !! This outfit is a wreck !

Oh God ! Just when you thought at least it could get a little better .. What the hell is this ! Nicki Minaj not only sported a stupid looking Versace red riding hood style cloak but she also had a man dressed as the pope on her arm.. Sorry but i cant even go into detail on this its a disaster :S

Oscars 2011: Best Dressed

Sorry for the lateness in this post! I have put together 4 of my favorite looks from the ceremony. The first is Mila Kunis who looked amazing in this Elie Saab haute couture dress, Mila also looked amazing at the Golden Globes so maybe she is a future style icon. Scarlett Johansson also looked fab in this gorgeous Raspberry colored lace Dolce & Gabbana gown aswell as Jennifer Lawrence who was wearing a fiery red Calvin Klein number. Is it just me or does she look so much like Stephanie Pratt from The Hills ? And to complete the list the wonderful Halle Berry who stole the show in this dazzling Marchesa gown.

Who do you think was the Best Dressed ?

P.S I wont bother do a worst dressed post as there wasn’t actually that many worst dressed.
