Life Lately #4

It doesn’t feel that long since my last Life Lately post! It is crazy to think we are entering the month of May already and nearly half way through the year! Even crazier though is the fact that I am writing this whilst it is snowing outside, yes snow! And they say it is nearly Summer eh! Anyway I am sure you will remember me going on about my computer technical problems at the start of the month which meant I couldn’t post for a bit. As you might be able to see, everything has resolved again and I am back to normal schedule again! It really is a weird experience being a way from a technology that I rely on so much but it was kind of a blessing at the same time. I wrote a bit about surviving off-line here if you’re interested.

However whilst I am fully able to post as normal now, I do have exams coming up in the next month. So I have been dedicating my time recently to a lot of studying so I do apologise if I have to miss a post or two whilst I get my head deep into months worth of notes. Fun! There are quite a few things I want to cover on my blog soon but some of which will be a bit more detailed so they will be reserved until after exams! Hopefully though the content until then should still be enjoyable!

As well as studying, this month has been rather spendy! Oops! I went a little crazy with the make-up purchases this month as you may have seen in two haul posts; from Space NK and Cult Beauty. Of course those two hauls weren’t even all of it! I am not quite finished yet either until I get my hands on that gorgeous Too Faced Sweet Peach palette, yes I am counting the days until it comes to the UK. I like makeup, okay? As well as that I picked up some new clothing too! I was so excited to see Alexa Chung collaborate with M&S for a collection and I had to grab a piece! My attention went straight to this beautiful navy blazer with gold detailing. I am truly obsessed! On another note, I am definitely up for doing more fashion style posts on my blog. I am sure I’ve said it before but I will definitely get round to it, hopefully after my exams anyway!

Also, I mentioned it in my April Playlist post, I also went to see 5 Seconds of Summer live this month! This was my third time seeing them live and they definitely didn’t disappoint. I am still truly obsessed with their first and second album and I enjoyed every minute of the gig. Probably one of my favourite live shows I’ve seen! So whilst the post-gig depression sinks in, I do have a couple of gigs over the next couple of months that I am very much looking forward to! I am sure you will hear more about them later!

April Playlist

April-music-playlist-spotify-mac-tropic-tonic-lipstick-beauty-makeup-peoniesI never quite managed to do a monthly play-list last month so lets see this one as a March/April music mixtape. With technical difficulties over the last few weeks, I wasn’t listening to much music to be honest but since being reunited with my Spotify account I do not know how I survived without! Although the last couple of months has saw me basically repeating the same music again and again, anyone else go through stages of that? I was lucky enough to go and see 5 Seconds of Summer live this month so I have loved replaying their album. I am also still obsessed with The 1975’s new album, Change of Heart is definitely my favourite track off the album and if I could listen to it over and over again, I would! Definitely an album worth playing! Alongside those two, I am also loving Hymn for the Weekend by Coldplay which is such a catchy song and Coldplay never fail to impress!

April Favourites

April Beauty FavouritesI probably say this every month when it comes to monthly favourites… but where has the time gone! It’s crazy to think we are in May already *gasp*! Anyway on to some of the beauty bits I have been loving this month, if you read my blog regularly then you may find some of these a little predictable haha!

Benefit Majorette Blush – No surprise here really! After lusting over this blush for quite a while I finally picked it up and fell in love. Its a beautiful coral cream-to-power finish blush that just adds such a nice boost of colour to the cheeks, perfect for spring! You can see my full review on this beauty here.

Real Techniques Bold Metals Flat Contour Brush 301 – Quite the long name there! I picked this rose gold beauty up after Real Techniques launched their incredibly anticipated higher-end brush line. Compared to other RT brushes, this one was a little on the pricey side at £22 but its pretty damn beautiful. It’s the perfect contour brush, the brush is quite dense and really picks up product well and also distributes it well on the face. It’s hard to think how I ever contoured without this one!

Chanel Rouge Coco Cecile Lipstick – There was no escaping this one when it came to this month’s favourites. There is nothing more exciting than picking up a new lipstick (that sounds so tragic but ever so true!) especially a Chanel one. They are a must have in any beauty lover’s makeup bag! The newly reformulated range offer great pigmentation whilst also having a good level of hydration on the lips. The shade ‘Cecile’ is such a pretty neutral rosy pink that I have been loving paired with MAC Soar lip liner – dream duo right there! Check out my full review here.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette – Do I even need to explain why this is a favourite. The UD Naked palettes are widely coveted and with good reason. I am pretty sure I mentioned this exact palette in a previous favourites post which pretty much sums up my love for it. I am sure you are all aware of the fantastic quality of the shadows so I will refrain from discussing that side of things. The colour range is just perfect. Its such a versatile palette, berry, pomegranate shades for Autumn and light rosy pastel pinks for Spring. I am having a bit of an obsession over light pinks and lilacs when it comes to eye-shadows and this palette has it covered. To stop myself writing a full essay on this one, you can simply check out my full review here.

Nivea Lip Butter Raspberry Rose – A lip balm/butter, not the most interesting product but hella good. The scent of this is incredibly dreamy, a raspberry scent which feels rather nostalgic some how, I am thinking some sort of candy but no idea? It is incredibly creamy and I like layering this on overnight for a full boost of hydration on the lips to keep them soft and moisturised. The great news here too is that its as cheap as chips and comes in other scents too including an ever popular blueberry, mmm!

Chanel Tenderly Nail Polish – Another post, another Chanel Tenderly mention. When will it stop, never! I finally buckled up the courage for a Chanel splurge on this beauty and so far no regrets (thank god!). This shade is just so my colour, a beautiful plum taupe-y colour that is just so versatile and looks ever so sophisticated. You can take a further look into my thoughts on this one here.

April Playlist

April PlaylistIts that time of the month again to have a little look into what I have been listening to over the sunny month of April. It’s been a bit of mad mix this month with a couple of throwbacks, a new album discovery and some new upbeat tunes that I cannot help but raise my hands to. The month has been mainly dominated by the wonderfully talented James Bay and this album Chaos and the Calm which is pretty darn fantastic. My faves include Craving, Move Together and Need the Sun to Break, all pretty calming soft tunes that make me want a good guitar lesson or two! A bit of a throwback came from Avril Lavigne, yep I know. I used to listen to Avril back in the day and there is no denying I will always have a space for some of her songs. To round up, there is quite a sad but beautiful one from Labrinth, ‘that’ Sia song, a catchy new one from Meghan Trainor and last but not least that killer remixed version of Omi’s Cheerleader, now that is seriously good stuff!

Fashion Debate: Should Kim Kardashian be on the cover of Vogue?

Kim Kardashian’s appearance on the cover of the April issue of Vogue has caused a little controversy recently. It was only last week when Kim took to twitter to reveal her excitement over landing the front cover of the fashion bible which is always coveted with the biggest stars and models. Since it was revealed there has been high criticism of the cover with many Vogue fans taking over social media to say how they will be canceling their subscription with the magazine. Anna Wintour addressed rumors of how Kanye pressured Anna into putting Kim on the cover in her editors letter saying “As for the cover, my opinion is that it is both charming and touching, and it was, I should add, entirely our idea to do it; you may have read that Kanye begged me to put his fiancée on Vogue’s cover, He did nothing of the sort. The gossip might make better reading, but the simple fact of the matter is that it isn’t true.” I personally think that someone like Kim Kardashian should not be on the cover of such a coveted fashion magazine or any reality star for that matter as it simply degrades the value that Vogue holds. But what are you thoughts? Should Kim K be on the cover on Vogue?
