If you’ve read my blog for a while then you may be well aware that I usually don’t get on really well with drugstore foundations. I am not being a makeup snob but I always find that cheaper foundations don’t sit right on my skin so I have always been in a bit of a hunt to find the perfect foundation from the drugstore. One foundation that got a lot of hype when it was released was the L’Oreal Infallible 24 hour Matte Foundation. As always being the nosy person I am, I just had to see what all the fuss was about with this one. So being from the drugstore and also surprisingly for me being matte did it change my mind on drugstore foundations?
I always tend to sway towards more dewy/satin finish foundations so obviously being a matte foundation it was always going to be a challenge. Although it looks really natural on the skin and not too matte. It allows for a natural glow to come through and doesn’t sit too flat on the skin whilst looking fresh. The coverage is also pretty impressive with a more fuller buildable coverage that allows for a little less concealer to be used over the top which is always a bonus. For being matte and more on the fuller coverage side of things, the foundation is actually pretty lightweight on the skin and blends in beautifully. Unlike many drugstore foundations I’ve used in the past this sits so nicely on my skin. It doesn’t appear cakey or mask like, it blends in incredibly well and appears flawless yet natural.
I picked up the shade Vanilla which is the perfect match for me and at £7.99 it is a complete bargain! The foundation claims to last up to 24 hours and whilst I obviously haven’t worn foundation for that length of time I can say that the lasting power is pretty good. For an everyday wear foundation, I like my base to last well especially if I am out all day and this makes the perfect foundation for daily wear. With an overwhelming list of positives, you can probably already grasp my feelings on this foundation. For me to be saying that I am truly obsessed with a matte drugstore foundation seems incredibly absurd with my foundation standards but damn this is good. I really do think I’ve found the one…
What is your favourite drugstore foundation?
This is one of my favourites too along with the true match! 🙂

I absolutely love this foundation! I have gone through 4 tubes already! I love applying it with wet RT make up sponge, it gives super natural finish 🙂 xx
P.S Try mixing ONE drop of facial oil with your foundation when applying it on your face. It gives healthy glow, but still keeps your face matte xx

Its so good right! 4 tubes, wow you really do like it then haha! Yeah I usually use a sponge after a brush to just finish it off and it always looks super natural! I just love it! Ooo thanks for the tip, I’ve never tried that before but I definitely will!

Sounds lovely, I think Loreal have been upping their foundation game recently. Will definitely have to swatch it though, sometimes their shades are a bit too yellow for me 🙂

It is really nice! I know the only other one I’ve tried is True Match which I wasn’t a fan of but they seem to have reformulated it and everything I didn’t like about it seems to have changed! So I will really need to give that a go! Definitely worth trying out and having a little swatch!

I might have just bought both! Loreal had a little 2 for 1 sale so I picked up the matte and true match (just because true match seemed like a slightly color match). All your fault of course 😉

Thank you so much for writing about this! I’ve been wanting to give it a try but because it’s ‘drugstore’ foundation I’ve been just putting it aside. I’ll have to try it now!

L’oreal have the best drugstore foundations for me! I’ve just picked up there stay fresh infallible foundation to see what it’s like! I find with the cheaper drugstore foundations they don’t work for me or I find there shades not that great for very fair skin… Xx

Ooo I really want to try that infallible foundation too! It sounds really nice! The only other L’Oreal foundation I’ve tried is True Match which I sadly didn’t like but I do want to try it again since they reformulated it! I am usually not to bad with finding shades in drugstore foundations but they just never sit right on my skin! It is so annoying but I am so happy with this foundation 🙂

I’ve just used up a tube of this recently & I have to say overall I’m impressed, though some days it can be a bit hit or miss with me but I think that’s just my ever moody skin lol If you haven’t tried the No 7 range (beautifully matte) it’s fantastic, my ultimate foundation. Bit pricier at £13 but as close to high end as I can find in drug stores 🙂 Brill review Lauren!!!! ❤ Karen xoxoxo

I love it! I know what you mean, I find with a lot of foundations that some days they look great and other days they just don’t work with my skin at all! So far so good with this one though! I’ve heard a lot about the No7 matte foundation, I will definitely add it to my list to try! Thanks Karen 🙂

This is what I’ve been wanting to try! Does it cling on to any dry patches?

No it really doesn’t! Thats something that always puts me off matte bases but this one doesn’t seem to cling to any dry areas at all!
